Residents and fans of the Bartica Easter Regatta are gearing up for what is shaping up to be an enthralling time with the list of sporting events set to commence on Saturday March 17 with Gymkhana at the Bartica Community Center ground.
According to the Bartica Development Business Association (BDBA) which has acquired the rights to organise this year’s Regatta activities, they are pulling out all the stops to ensure that all the activities both sports and otherwise are professionally and meticulously put together for the enjoyment of the athletes and fans.
To this end, the BDBA has embarked on a robust sponsorship drive to garner the requisite funds that will ensure top class activities are held. The committee has disclosed that sponsorship so far has been received from the Government of Guyana, Guyana Tourism Authority, Banks DIH Ltd., Ansa McAl, Aruwai Resort, Palm Spring Hotel, Rich Kid Music, Ramchan’s Auto Sales, BK International, Boodhoo’s General Store, ExxonMobil, GBTI, Guyana Gold Board, H.A Snacks, National Sports Commission, Small Business Bureau, Western Union Money Transfer and the Guyana Gold Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA).
However, the BDBA pointed out that they are still short of their projected budget and is encouraging more corporate entities to get on board to sponsor the many planned events including spots in the Regatta Waves Magazine.
Dirt Bike Racing will throttle in on Sunday March 18 at Mongrippa Hill with the dominoes lovers set to get into the act on Wednesday March 21st and will continued on March 23rd at Smartt Car Park.
Members of the BDBA – Ramcharran Boodhoo, Kamal Persaud and Holbert Knights – recently made sponsorship calls on Director of Sport Christopher Jones and Managing Director of BK International, Brian Tiwari. Both entities have committed finances to the programme of which the BDBA has expressed their appreciation.
Meanwhile, the first official segment of the Miss Bartica Regatta Pageant, dubbed “The Top Model Segment” is scheduled for this Sunday from 13:00hrs at the Aruwai Resort. This round of competition will feature all of the nine contestants trying to build up early points, while displaying garments created by designers from both Georgetown and Bartica.
The show will be complemented by junior models and other attractions.
