When matches in the Sterling Products sponsored East Bank Demerara Cricket Association T20 competition continued on Tuesday last at the Laluni ground, Emancipation Day, Uprising won the toss and invited Eccles to take first strike; they managed 116-9 in 15-overs with the top score of 35 from Daniel Barker who lashed 4×4 and 1×6. Corwin Austin backed up with 23 (1×6 1×4).
Teekaram George 4-28 and Mohamed Baksh 2-12 were the leading wicket takers for Uprising who were limited to 95-7 in their 15 overs. Steve Jowahir made 25 (1×6 2×4) Baksh 18. Leading the bowling with stifling spells were Kennard Singh with 3-10 and Bernard Bailey, 2-10 both bowling 3-overs apiece. Silver Bullet trounced home team Laluni by 3-wickets reaching 42-7 off 9.5 overs replying to Laluni’s 41 all out off 10.5 overs. For the winners, Leon James led with 14. In Laluni’s innings, the main wicket takers were Vickram Lokenauth 3-4 and Collin Benjamin 3-6. Troy Domingo took 4-10 and Wayne la Rose 2-15 in a losing display. In matches played on Sunday, Bayrock posted 182-3 with Leonard Caleb slamming 97 (10×6 2×4), Stephon Brown 54 (2×6 4×4). Bowling for Laluni, Alex Dundas and Troy Domingo took one wicket each. Laluni in response were bowled out for 135 in 16 overs with Dundas returning with the bat to top score with 42 (2×6 3×4). Elroy Henry made 32 (3×6 1×4). The main wreckers for Bayrock were Brown who capped a fine all-round performance by grabbing 4-30 from 4 overs. Leon Plass supported well with 3-24 also from 4. Rome were bowled out for 97 against Herstelling who strolled home at 98-5. Rome’s total was built around contributions of 30 from Keon Bailey (3×6 1×4) and 20 from Chemroy Kendall. Romel Daniels with 3-24 and N. Pooran with 2-11 were the main wickets takers for Hersteling which were led to victory by Anan Bharat’s 30 and the multi talented former National Under-17 Goalkeeper and current East Bank Football Association #1 goalie Quazim Yussuf who made 12. Bailey and Rohan Lall both had figures of 2-27 each in a losing cause. The Nandy Park vs Providence fixture which was also set for Laluni was washed out by rain, while up in Linden on the same day, the home team won via the walkover route from Combine United.
