TORONTO - A controversial film about the Prophet Mohammad that has sparked deadly protests in the Middle East is being screened in Toronto later this month by a Hindu group.

A venue for about 200 film buffs is being sought and heavy security, including metal detectors, will be used to check filmgoers attending the movie that has sparked protests in Egypt, Yemen and Libya, where the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi was stormed and the ambassador and three other Americans killed.

β€œA lot of people want to see this film,” said Ron Banerjee, of the Canadian Hindu Advocacy. β€œIt will be a private showing and filmgoers will be frisked and have to go through a metal detector.”

Banerjee said organizers of TIFF have refused to show the film, which that depicts Muhammad as a womanizer and a madman.

He said venues in Toronto are reluctant to allow the film to be shown on their premises fearing a backlash by radical Muslims.

β€œWe are looking at showing the film at a Hindu temple,” Banerjee said on Friday. β€œHindus are furious that people are being killed over this film.”

Banerjee said copies of the film have been withdrawn from circulation but are β€œavailable privately.”

Parts of the film are still available on the Internet.

He said viewers will have to book a seat to see the film and undergo searches.

Snippets from other movies that are offensive to Christians and Hindus will also be shown, Banerjee said.

β€œIn Canada, we have tolerance and diversity and they (Muslims) are simply going to have to tolerate diverse viewpoints and opinions without rioting,” he said, adding that he is not concerned about a backlash.

On Friday his group will stage an event in which dog owners can walk their canines outside the Salahuddin Mosque, in Scarborough, during prayer sessions.

Their event is in response to an incident in August that took place during an anti-Israel demonstration at Queen’s Park by an Islamic group. A Jewish man was arrested for his involvement in an altercation where he was shoved and his dog was kicked.

Some devout Muslims believe dogs to be unclean and avoid the animals.

That we must take credit for for up to this day we respect each other for what we believe in. Back in the days when I was member of the Lions Club  out of respect for each other when there was dinner or any other event , we never had beef nor pork on the menu. Small steps that go a far way.

Cobrayou are not qualified   to   speak for  my  hindu brothers and sisters  for you are a Chammar!!

But some pandit or Hindu group will even though the majority will show respect by restraint. Should these Hindus be slaughtered in the streets on account of the idiot few? That is the point those rationalizing this violence misses.

You see this is where you and I disagree. Will Hindus showing this offensive film bring about peace or will it create conflict?

Try showing a film that the Holocast did not take place in a Catholic Church or in  a Mosque, tell me what will happen.

Once people are offended they will protest , should that protest be violent, the answer is definitely no!!!

I personally do not care if they chose to view it or not. That is their option. I would defend their right, as odious as it stands, to view the film.

I see many anti Israel militia in the US. Go to the south. I even went to a protest on the mall where neo Nazi, skinheads and KKK chose to gather. Indeed there were potential for violence but the US law allowed it. The responsibility is on the individual or group  saying they are for peace to practice what they preach.

I know ambassador stephens because we were neighbors. We were not friends and I do not ever remember speaking to him but because I know his face, saw him alive walking in my 'hood I feel I should know why some ******* need to murder him on account of a movie. I thought I would not care to see the movie but I am beginning to think I need to see for myself what the fuss is about. As a matter of fact I am going to look at the trailer right now.
