GNI Members and Visitors, please share these phone numbers with your relatives and friends in Guyana. I have already passed them on to some of my contacts there. I am told that most Guyanese young adults over 16 years old have cell phones. We must encourage them to store these numbers in their contact lists and call when in despair. A little chat can provide hope and help and change one's mind from suicide.

Excellent to have hotline numbers. Hopefully they will be staffed by competent people able to provide solid advice and a sympathetic air.

However this is reactive.  Proactive measures need to be taken,

Do people know why the high levels of suicide?  Until they do they are being reactive.  If they begin to develop a notion of why so many suicides occur then they can provide more solid PROACTIVE support.

This needs to be published on billboard all over Guyana, especially the rural areas.  It needs to be on every TV and actively talked about in every school, church, temple and mosque.

I agree, but it's a start, the other stuff you mentioned needs to now follow-up.  As I said before, they need to do a deep dive.
