Two arrested for robbery spree in Sophia
[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Police have arrested two young men in connection with the two separate recent robberies involving taxi drivers in ‘C’ Field Sophia.
According to a police statement, as a result of continuing investigations into a number of recent armed robberies in which taxi-drivers have been held up and their motor vehicles taken away, the police arrested two men on Friday July 03.
The men have been so far positively identified as the perpetrators of two of the robberies, involving the use of firearms, and an attempted robbery involving the use of knives.
Police stated that the two men have been identified as having robbed Taxi Driver Carlos Pollydore of his car on July 03, at “C” Field, Sophia, and Taxi Driver Shabeer Mohamed of his car on May 29, at Cumming Lodge, ECD.
The men have also been fingered in the attempted robbery of Ryan Marks at “C” Field, Sophia, on July 01 while armed with knives. The duo is in police custody and charges are expected to be laid shortly.
