Armed bandits rob GPL Parika office, customers
Three armed bandits, earlier today (Friday), stormed the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Parika office; robbing the location of all revenues it collected up until the time of the incident. The robbery occurred around 12:00 hrs.
INews understands that staff and customers, who were transacting business at the location were also held at gun point and robbed.
The gunmen also managed to disarm the security personnel of a gun.
In a statement issued moments ago, the company said that the Guyana Police Force has since been informed of this criminal occurrence and investigations are ongoing.
“Today’s robbery coupled with last weeks’ foiled attempt at our Mon Repos Customer Service Centre is of immense concern to our Company. A robust assessment of security provisions at our locations is underway,” the statement added
