The unnamed official also described the calls by US and its allies for a military action against Syria over allegations that the Damascus government has used chemical weapons as part of a "psychological and political" war against his country.
"Western threats of strikes against Syria are part of the psychological and political pressure against Syria, but in any case we are ready to face all scenarios," the official told AFP.
"We hope that those who are trying to push towards a military action will show themselves to be reasonable. We are convinced that the way out of the crisis will only be through a political solution," he added.
Earlier, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad warned that 'failure awaits the United States' if it launches a war on his country.
The remarks were made after Western countries called for a military action against Syria over a chemical attack near Damascus last week.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, however, has warned that any intervention in Syria without a UN Security Council mandate would be a "grave violation of international law."
Meanwhile, military leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Canada are meeting in Jordan to discuss Syria unrest.
Hundreds of people were killed and scores of others injured in a chemical attack in the Damascus suburbs of Ain Tarma, Zamalka and Jobar on August 21.
Both the Syrian government and the foreign-backed opposition accuse each other of being behind the deadly attack.
The Damascus government, however, has vehemently denied the accusation, saying the chemical attack was carried out by the militants themselves as a false-flag operation.
