I was at the Impressions Dance Theater's 11th annual dance recital this afternoon at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in Jamaica, Queens.
Let me first of all offer a disclosure - Verna Walcott-White, who heads this organization has provided the Guyana Day Events in Queens, New York, with performances over the years. She is also the sister of a QC classmate of mine.
Okay, now for this afternoon's performances. Wow! Those little kids were admirable. The costumes for all the girls were remarkable. The sound engineering and the timing and other efficiencies made me proud. Other organizations should present their shows with this professionalism. The turnout was almost full house with a great diversity of Guyanese and other Caribbean people. Our Ambassador Bayney Karan was on hand to present a Borough Proclamation.
