Tangible evidence of socio-economic advancement throughout Guyana

Print PDF: FOR all the continuing criticisms levelled by the well known naysayers about the  Government’s direction of the nation’s economy, it  continues to grow, while concomitantly benefiting the people. The results are there to behold as one travels throughout the coastaways: well laid out housing schemes with beautifully architectured homes; paved roads; drainage, social support infrastructure such as schools, community centres.

To this must  also be  added state-of-the- art  medical facilities such as diagnostic centres, hospitals, water treatment plants that now make potable water available throughout all the regions. There are other very tangible evidence of socio-economic advancement that must also be added, such as more  citizens  engaging in business and commercial activities, and  other areas of industry that signal a nation on the move to modernisation.
What is contradictory to these critics’ jealous “bad talk”, has been the several glowing reports from international bodies of the great strides that the national economy has been making.
That the Caribbean Development Bank is the latest  to join in the chorus of praise  must be gratifying  to an administration that has battled with the political devils of this nation. Honest minded commentators  can testify to the many periods of uncertainty and challenges, encountered by the PPP/C government as it  confronted the task of rebuilding a shattered nation.
It is a tribute to its sustained economic growth rate of 5% for a seventh consecutive year, as it is to successful implementation record of socio-economic projects under the bank’s Basic Needs Trust Fund, as hailed by the Bank’s president, Dr. Warren William Smith. Guyana will once again be a beneficiary in the 7Th cycle disbursement of $7M, that will continue to bring improvements to communities, thereby enhancing efforts at self sustainability.
So let them continue to bad mouth. Guyana under the PPP/C continues to progress.

With all the imperfections and issues, Guyana is forging forward under the present GoG.  The people should not be tempted by those promising all kind of everything but will do nothing more than return the nation back to the dark days of oppression, discrimination and deprivation.

And yet your Minister of Forwign Affairs is whining taht she clears Guyanese to qualify under the CSME rules to establish their right to migrate without barriers to tiny islands which are mere volcanic peaks.  Up to a few days ago she wailed that St Lucia was refusing to allow Guyanese to enter and work in St Lucia, even though already certified by her ministry to qualify for automatic work permits under CSME rules.

If Guyana is so good why do Guyanese in 2013 still tolerate this humiliation?

These people have no shame.

A few years ago they wanted to shut down the gold industry because they thought that most gold miners were PNC supporters.

Yet gold is booming and sugar is near collapse.
