Thinking about it ,what's attracting the Guest to the Forum ? analytics shows almost half the visitors are from India.

Is it Bollywood ?

Including Bollywood, but.....India is awakening to their citizens departed  to other countries and replaced slaves on sugar cane plantations. More Indians in India  are asking for information and photographs are posted in museums  across India, regarding Indian Indenture Labourers in Guyana and other countries.  

I'm long time lurker who finally decided to join.

This move forces visitors to create an account, which is good and bad. Some people just might want to browse and read without signing up. 

I don't think it's a good idea.  I wonder what's the comparison of online readers for Kaiteur versus Stabroek?  I don't think most folks would want to create an account just to be able to read.

Will run in this mode for a week for analytical purposes. Social media requires log in to read and post. Forums can be members only to read and post or World where everyone without out membership read.

Some people getting edgy ,they can't read what is posted here .Regarding Stabroek News ,to my mind ,it's more popular and fair news media ,they also have very active comments section for articles ,run by the platform Discuss ,which requires login,i am a member ,periodically will post on SN, the moderators are very strict .

Kaiteur News have the same comments feature by Discuss ,it's dead as door nail.

I experienced that this morning and was wondering if only members only are permitted to access the forum.

Current change has more negative than positive benefits for members and visitors.

Members will always log-in to interact on the forum.

Non-members should have the opportunity to read information on the forum.

What is there to hide that members have to sign in to read the garbage some of your members are peddling here? I read the damn thing and it make no sense.

They are university students and it's for academic interest only. 

Django wants to do so much to the forum but wouldn't try to curb the nasty things that going on between members. Btw, what happen to baseman? He is not back as yet?

Some people are too bare face to come to a free forum and  specify how the Admin should run it.  It must be one of those Guyanese things, where they also complain that rules should not be enforced.

I have lots of inputs for admin but you wouldn't like to hear them. One of my input it to get new ownership. Django is power hungry and dictating for everyone. He ask for balance of opinions, yet he ban members for their independent views.

Trying to get it at a decent level.Wish there can be constructive discussions .Also members who trying to disrupt the forum are warned.

Going against my promise here.

My suggestion is that you restore the previous settings for Political and require that a sign in for Bollywood for a few days and see what the traffic looks like. The Political forum is the one most frequented by members. Doing the above will allow you to gauge the level of interest in the bread and butter forum which is Political. You do have to let it run like that for a few days to get a fair representation of the viewers habits/interests.

Input and assistance from members regarding improvements for a forum, can be accepted if required. But final decision rest with Owners and Administrators.

There are 210 Members on the Forum ,let's assume they read without signing in ,in the current settings they will have to sign in ,also visitors who are interested in the Political Forum will have to become a member ,to read the views.

It's like Sams ,Costco and BJ's ,membership needed to make purchases .

Too many Western Union and barrel shipments for Guyanese. GCDF don't even have a membership fee and they complain for anonymous posting.   

Since taking over ,haven't had much time to inspect members registrations ,having taken a detailed look ,found some members with multiple handles. Me thinks this is dishonesty ,handles will be removed ,only one will remain .

Caution will be taken on members who uses VPN ,there are no problem using VPN for internet browsing ,using it to register on the forum to create multiple handles is unacceptable.

Terrible idea. An other forum that I visit has however come up with a good half way house system. None members get to see adverts on the forum that they cannot switch off. Members who log in can switch off the adverts.
There is also an Exclusive Members Club section, granted membership access by invitation only. There members can discuss controversial issues away from preying eyes.

Keep it open to all. 'Sunlight' is the best disinfectant for some of these racists.

You are talking kaka. I interact with Indians here everyday. I even have a few that call me from Bharat Mata ever so often.

How can you caution members from loaning their handles to non members. Who would be liable for misleading postings?

It's wrong for members to do such ,who are guilty should desist.

Django, nothing wrong in giving it a try.  You will never know if you do not and if it doesn't work the way you want it to, then you can revert back to it's original.

Correct Django ...

A member must have ONLY ONE handle-username for GCDF/GNI.

Should a person loan his/her handle for another/others to use ... the registered member is liable for such misleading post(s).

It's a suggestion for a revenue stream, not a criticism of this forum.

I have notice one suspended member , register under another handle .Will handle that later.
