The AFC, a party that lucked out in the last elections with just about 10% of the popular vote is facing crisis after crisis. From the beginning of the 10th parliament this overnight stale crust from the powerful PPP and the PNC went on political rampage against the gov't hoping to exact revenge for reasons many of us are too familiar with - lust for the coveted leadership that indomitable CBJ held for half century. Much to the chagrin of the nation and more specifically to its own supporters the AFC took a radical position on issues such as the controversial electricity subsidies to Linden which was instituted by Guyana's notorious dictator, LFS Burnham. The party's position on the subsidy issue made APNU look like moderates. It's lawyers, especially Nigel Hughes has been caught in all sorts legal infraction and racial polarization throughout the country. Cathy Hughes, the wife of Nigel Hughes, and executive member of the AFC has been caught with her bam bam in the lap of Flip Motilall, a contractor who has been fired by Donald Ramotar for unethical ways of doing business.
The AFC today is one of the most hated political organization in Guyana. So hated and isolated they have become many of their executive members have been fleeing to other parties or just chose to become mum and watch its eventual and inevitable implosion. The public at home and abroad are amazed at the Rumshop-style cussing down the gov't by the likes of Ramjattan and Nagamootoo. People are squirming at the sight of these men whether they see them in person, print, or on Television. The nation wants to go back to the peaceful and progressive path it has been on for the last two decades. Moving Guyana back to the days of the PNC is retrogression in every sense of the word. Let the AFC keep running. They are on the last leg of the last lap. Their rope is short and they are about to get a serious chuck like a running calf who has been caught by lasso.
