Money always attracts criminals. The decision by the government to pay the retrenched sugar workers will see a shift in criminal activities to the eastern part of the country. It is not that the criminals are leaving another part of the country to visit eastern Guyana. Rather, some enterprising criminals with support from their visiting counterparts will attack three homes; their level of success will be hampered by an angry community.

A drinking session would turn violent when one of the men in the company would become very angry and use a bottle on one of his companions. He would later say that he was unaware of his actions.

A raid on a house will uncover a quantity of drugs and weapons. This home had long been under surveillance. The homeowner is a known character who made no secret of his activities.
