From my own research and knowledge, there are some fundamental issues of inaccuracy associated with the first part of the interview. Here are a few.

Both of the male members are presenting some inaccurate information.

For example:

The actual figures of Indians who came to Guyana is somewhere between 239,000 and 240,000...the actual figures are known because records do not exist.

All migration did not end in 1917 or the same time with Mauritius and Natal, South Africa. It ended earlier in Natal, South Africa.

One of the central figure in abolishing the system of indenture was also Gokhale, as well as Madan Malaviya....both played an important role.

Indians in India were not called â€œEast Indians”. They were Indians, or whatever the British, French and Portuguese chose to call them. East Indians is a European construct.

They are correct to suggest that the Caribbean is seen as a “Black” area...it is also considered as America’s backyard.

As per the video, the Professor on the left is the only one more qualified to speak on the topic...the other 2 individuals are not well versed on this subject, as their contributions seem to indicate...

jes my 2 cents....

He got his name from his parents and it is the name in which he entered politics with in Guyana and which he even used  in the political party he founded and competed with in the Guyanese elections. He has a long and illustrious provenance in our politics, history and activism. Lets not be disrespectful to people who lived their lives  honestly  and committed to our well being however much we may disagree with them on issues.

Immigrants to British Guiana from 1834 to 1843.

From India in 1838 there were 406 Indentured Laborers.

Also there were 5,349 from Madeira.

Is this kind of information available for Afros, Portuguese and Chinese...numbers and when they came?

VP, I thought your were a researcher.... but like you want to be spoon fed like a baby.

jes my 2 cents....

East Indian was a person of mixed birth. Natives with an English parent is Anglo-indian. A parent of European background and native was a Eurasian. A native woman having children with an Arab, her children were called Moplahs.

Towards the mid eighteen hundreds, the population of mixed indians decided to name themselves collectively as East Indians.

Prior to the Europeans coming to India, there was no such religious following as Hindus. People were associated with the Guru they followed, for example the Brahmins were of different sects.

Let's say you have not read as much as I have on the topic/subject. Mankind been writing since Enoch returned from Heaven with the heavenly proclamations. That is an awful lot of knowledge over the generations, stored in alll sorts of places on the planet in differing languages and cultures. God bless the Whiteman and his ships, for they found the knowledges and give it me in the Queens English so that I can read, discern and understand with wisdom.  From time to time, the One who possess wisdom and knowledge guides my fingers to find the sources that interests me. In particular, I did research the topic of East Indians and the Hindu religion and its followers.

You are wrong in your comment. Columbus was heading to the East Indies and the Malabar Coast for the spices. The sub-continent was tract of lands of Princely States.
