After 2011 Elections 3 Top AFC Supporters

 TK, Dr Rose & Rob made a decision

to open dialogue & engage PNC Leaders.

 

Immediately everyone attacked

their decision and Judgement as sell out.

 

We were Blind and playing Race Cards.

Calling for Apology from PNC

and Throwing all types of Red Herrings

to Derail Peace & Unity.

 

TK called me and

we had a very long discussion....

and because I respected him I told him....

"Boy you made a Bold move...

I cannot agree with you now,

but maybe there is something

you see or Granger Promise,

so I will take a wait and see attitude

that I am not seeing ......

and..."we will see when the dust settle."

 

I remained a friend of TK ....

and we would talk from time to time....

and sometimes I even attacked him

and his position as others on GNI did...

calling him a Grasshopper and other silly names

and even taunting him and asking him

"when will the dust settle."

 

Now looking back....

I have I must apologize

for not understanding the bigger picture

TK and others were seeing.

 

We must thank TK for chipping the Ice.

Even if it was Just a Flake

it was the right move.

 

Someone had to start public Discussion with PNC & APNU

 and TK bit the bullet.

THANKS TK.

 

Because of what TK did...

The APNU Door to Granger

was easy to open

and let the AFC Light in....

 

When PPP decided to to become Undemocratic

and shut down parliament

it was easy for

AFC to Convince APNU

with Moses Magic

the PPP can be easily toppled.

The rest is History

Thanks again TK

In 1992 I was a first-time voter.  I followed my father's advice and voted for the PPP. As we say, "the rest is history".

 

The corruption seemed to grow exponentially overnight - people who previously had nothing suddenly had fancy vehicles, new house and travelled often.  The depravity was accompanied by the display of sheer arrogance and lack of consideration for what anyone else had to say.

 

After Cheddi Jagan died and Janet Jagan demitted office, this new culture of the PPP just seemed to explode, enveloping an ever-growing part of the society.

 

The turning point, or push factor for me was how the death of Sash Sawh and the subsequent investigations were handled.

 

I am happy to have contributed to the gradual defection that started in 2006 with long-time supporters of the PPP moving to the AFC. 

 

I felt happy with the outcome of the 2011 elections, and expected that a minority government would be a win-win situation for all, but that did not happen.

 

I am now glad to have helped make what we are about to witness, a reality. 

 

Guyana, especially the young people, deserve better than what the PPP has been offering. 

 

What we need to do now, is help to dismantle that culture of thieving, arrogance and bully-ism that represent the PPP of the past 15 years.

 

For me, simply put: I helped to put them in office and I helped to take them out! I am part of the change. In so doing I have satisfied a part of my obligation to society.

Apology accepted Jalil. That was very generous of you. Stromborn/Jalil: everyone held their grounds that it could not be done because Indians will never vote for a PNC leader. Some of us thought even if the PPP wins with 40% of the votes they will govern in a backward and non-progressive manner. The constitution allows them to be backward and they were fine with that. The minority status was not enough to discipline PPP. Hence, the pre-election alliance was the only way to get it done and Moses was the best person with political capital who could do it. It is risky, but I felt even if some rural Indians went back, many more urban folks who never thought the opposition could win would finally support. The results are showing most Indians stayed with the coalition. Jagdeo also is a gift that keeps giving...his approach was the final nail in the PPP coffin.
