Crum-Ewing perpetrated several frauds in Antigua; many wanted him dead – Letter writer from Antigua

In a twist to the story surrounding the murder of Courtney Crum-Ewing an Antigua based letter writer notes that in stark contrast to his eulogization by the opposition the self titled activist isn’t quite the saint he’s being made out to be. The writer said there are lots of persons who wanted him dead as he had perpetrated a series of frauds whilst living in the twin Island republic.

 

The letter appeared today only in the Guyana Chronicle and Guyana Times and the writer who gave his name is David Thompson said Crum-Ewing lived in Antigua for years and that while there he bullied, threatened and ripped-off a lot of people before fleeing to his homeland. He wrote that Crum-Ewing’s wife allegedly fled to the US with her children in order to escape physical and other forms of abuse.

 

Thompson noted that all his claims are fact and asked that contact be made with North Coast Hardware or Percival’s Gas Station in Antigua as both establishments will confirm the bounced cheques were cashed there by Crum-Ewing before he left the Island.

Well, well, well. I was appealing for a State funeral for this man.

There is no such thing as betraying a bunch of crooks. You disassociate from them and take them out because it is a civic duty.

The oligarchs either capitulates to the change demanded  or are taken out by the movement. It is how social change occurs. Thomas Kuhn in his seminal book, Structure of scientific revolutions insist this is how it happens in science and society.

The PPP is an elected govt. They did not get there through fraud as was the case of Burnham/Hoyte.  With unelected dictatorships, you are justified in using any means necessary to fight for change.

 

With a democratic govt, terrorism would be unacceptable.  You have to use legitimate channels to fight for change. That's why Ewing's terroristic plans as vented in his Facebook rants are troubling.  Let's say you were in the govt, or you were a businessman, and here is someone advocating to harm your family, wife, grandchildren, etc., would you be OK with such a loose cannon running around like that?

 

Now that more details are emerging, I am not sure about this Ewing person being a freedom fighter.  I like how he protested against the terrorist AG, but I am not sure his life and work and beliefs would elevate him to be listed with honorable people such as Dr. Rodney.

Please quote his words, bring them here and lets discuss them.

 

His life may be simple and his intellect not comparable to rodney but he is of no less value in a struggle where they both lost the same thing. Rodney was so "respected" that the PPP shunned him.

 

The PPP are in office on the backs of a majority Indian vote. The are in exactly the opposite position of Indians in fiji. Examine the arguments there in Fiji  and then see how you can parse the reality that an Indian dominated regime that in the last term was a minority in Guyana  can completely dominate the political space.

So if an elected government becomes a dictatorship, there is no justification for fighting against it? Only unelected dictatorships should be fought? Democracy does not only mean being elected at the polls. Actually, the PPP tried to rig the last elections so that they could secure the majority but their plans were broken up.

 

What nonsense are you talking about Crum-Ewing's terroristic plans? The man was protesting peacefully every day and because of that the government was harassing him and even threatening his life. They trumped up fake charges against him and sent their goons to destroy his minibus which was his means of earning a living. Yes, he ranted on Facebook against a government that was threatening his livelihood and his life. A government which he believed to be obscenely corrupt and had a history of murdering its citizens through extrajudicial means. So, is it justified for the government to bump him off because he was having a rant on Facebook? Did you say something about democracy before or are you just one of those old time Communists who believe that anyone who protests against the government deserves to be executed?

 

You are demonizing Crum-Ewing because he made a few rants on Facebook against a corrupt government that was threatening his life. In the same breath you described Rodney as being honorable. Do you know that Rodney threatened to remove the Burnham government by any means necessary? Do you know that the WPA was amassing arms at the time that those threats were made? Not that I agree with Rodney being murdered but just showing you how biased you are against Crum-Ewing with not a shred of evidence of him planning to attack anyone. 

 

The Coalition would be better off staying far away from supporters like you. Go with the PPP for you are just as poisonous as they are.
