GECOM should make it official shortly.

Now comes the hard part.

The new government will have to balance the duties of changing the culture of governance, investigating past misdeeds and getting the economy on track.

Congrats to the coalition. When the story's been told Moses would have been seen as the catalyst for his bold move; Prak for starting the change in our political culture and Granger for being a decent man to enable the mistrust of the PNC to be mitigated.

I believe they are all up to the task.

Commiserations to our fellow GNI-ers who really had no clue of the changes taking place in Guyana and who hark back to an ancient day of racial divide.

The 2011 election has brought about a change in Guyana. I have always been keen on Guyana's politics. It is a drum beat for me-keeping pace.

The significant thing about 2011, my energies were renewed by  4 young men-Gerhardt, Baseman, Tarran Khemraj and Sase.

Their efforts were a building block for this day.

No mention of course of the underlying conditions which led to the tensions last night.  Mitigated by the fact that Granger is a military man, so knew who to deploy his folks to snuff out problems before they became too major.

I suggest that strategies to stabilize the urban poor better be high up on those lists of priorities.  As I mentioned before an unstable urban poor can become a serious political and economic security risk and I suggest that people take a look at Kingston, Port of Spain, and Rio if they doubt.

G/town and its environs isn't that far from this.  A less competent strategy to defuse tensions and the results could have been very different.
