Queenie could have also known Nurse Farley, but slightly differently...Dose were de days, freedom wid no worries.
Queenie had a self closing gate that was at an angle, you need 'two big men and fourteen kids' to open it, when its closing, betta run out of the way, it comes crashing down to close.
My dad was their driver whom they called Ram. All of my older brothers spoke very highly of Queenie's father, he was one of the men was showed respect and was respected by many. I believe they gave us a dog name Collar who uninvitedly followed my mother with the donkey cart, to Port Mourant market. Collar got into a fight with other dogs and was run over by a car, exactly by the road where our new house was to be built years later. My mother immediately returned home crying with Collar wrapped in a rice bag, we all loved that dog. I remember we used to tie a lamp under the donkey cart shaft when travelling at night.
When I met Queenie on GNI, I first did not believe Queenie was from the same place as me and moreso, someone whose father we heard a lot, last time me see Queenie was when I was 10. Queenie was pointed out to me by my father at a sports event.
After so many decades have gone by, we all went our separate ways overseas, only to find out that Queenie's mother is buried just miles from where I now live, Queenie sister and brother also live just miles from me. A small world indeed, which might not have happened without GNI. Smile lol cheers yippie

Mits how did the practise of serving seven curries at Hindu religious functions started ?....

This number 7 is very mythical in hinduism. Our bodies have 7 chakras which corresponds to the 7 astral planes and Surya is pulled by 7 horses perhaps symbolic of the 7 days in the week. Music is made of up 7 major notes, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni.

This 7 curry is a tradition handed down to us. I really don't the significance.

At the end of relgious functions seven different vegetable curries are traditionally pumpkin, baajee (spinach), katahar, potato/ channa (chick peas), bulanjay (eggplant) and edoe, dahl and mango. It is also tradionally served on a purine (water lily) leaf and eaten with your fingers.
