The People’s Progressive Party has retained the services of a highly respected and ethical American political media strategist, Pennsylvanian political guru Mr. Joshua Morrow. According to Freedom House insiders, Morrow will bring the modern media messaging expertise necessary for a successful 2015 electoral campaign.
Morrow is fresh off an almost successful stint as campaign manager for Shaugnessy Naughton in the Democratic primaries against Kevin Strouse. In the poorly funded Naughton campaign, Morrow showed his creativity in organizing a campaign using social media primarily. His brilliant strategy according to an article on one website:
“The Naughton campaign had up until that point, relied on e-mail blasts and mailers to reach potential voters daily. They had also released a video ad on YouTube.com. Morrow sent the link of the campaign video to LevittownNow.com early Monday morning and said the ad was “embargoed” and would let the publication know it could be released for public viewing “later” in the day.
Asked on Monday how many spots were purchased and on what stations, Morrow said, “we don’t discuss internal campaign decisions.” However, he did say the “ad will run later in the week,” as part of the ad buy in the Philadelphia market.”
With the PPP’s tremendous war chest and an exceedingly favourable media environment, Morrow’s options for creativity are therefore virtually unlimited.
For the PPP campaign, Morrow joins an elite team of roughly ten media managers spanning the Guyana Chronicle, NCN, GINA and the Office of the President. Insiders say that one of his strongest qualities is that he has a zero tolerance attitude towards dirty campaigning. For example, in his successful 2012 campaign which saw Kathleen Kane become the first female Attorney-General of Pennsylvania, Morrow frontally took on opponent David Freed’s unethical campaign strategy:
“News reports repeatedly say that his campaign is refusing to respond to questions about his supporter’s reprehensible tactics and baseless claims. Freed needs to tell his people to take their ad down immediately and take their special interest money and their dirty tricks and get out of Pennsylvania. The people of Pennsylvania deserve better.”
While the PPP has been accused of mudslinging in the past, and the use of secret bloggers, and anonymous slanderous articles in the state and associated media, Morrow’s presence is expected to clean up this act. If not, the Pennsylvania Democrat will most likely undertake the sort of principled resignation he did as a carpetbagging campaign manager for Democratic senatorial contender Jeff Greene in Florida in 2010, although in this instance, like Dorothy, he finds himself a long way from home and amidst an interesting cast of characters.
