The crime situation in the country as a whole, but most especially in the urban spread of Georgetown, has been growing in a frightening crescendo. We are not referring to crimes such as spousal abuse or crimes of passion or white-collar crimes such as embezzlement, but to those crimes where citizens are molested or attacked daily as they go about their normal business. Such crimes occur not merely at nightfall but in broad daylight.

If you can't you have no credibility.
As as said before. I do not want to get personal. You know that I am referring to.

Prove that you aren't a lair and you have credibility.
Crime has been a problem during the ppp times. However, lately, it seems to have increased under this government, though the numbers they have indicates otherwise. The coalition said that they had solutions to all the problems, including crime. Still waiting for them to do something that reassures the population that they are safe.
The President must speak out
The president will not speak out. These are HIS people doing the wrongs. Remember, black people are clannish.
Crime has been out of control before the coalition took over....

Yeah but it was the coalition committing the crimes. They were openly at Buxton Line top with the Gang
Illegal drugs were plentiful under Jagdeo's administration. I believe drugs became more prevalent in his time.

You got that right, prior to 1996 when i was there, white stuff was not in localities.
AFC/PNC broke another promise of combatting crime.
PPP was indeed weak on combatting crime but the PNC is worse than the PPP in tackling crime.
Crime will decrease when the police are trained, paid a decent salary and provided with tools to fight crime. Corruption with Police will end when they are well paid, they too need to put food on the table and take care of their families.
Does anyone really expect a cop to live off that chicken feed salary ?
Our Indo Brothers and Sisters also need to join the force in combatting crime. How long will we depend on Afros alone to sacrifice and defend the country ?
A Afro Guyanese friend just returned from Guyana after spending 4 weeks. His observations are as follows. Things are VERY expensive, there is a constant fear after DARK because of the serious crime, the people are more LAZY, they don't walk ,everybody takes taxi or they own cars, The women are still housewives, but they seldom cook, Chinese FOOD cheap. and they look at soap opera on TV., Every house and bottom house have Television. The main Highways are good, but people don't obey STOP signs/signals. Police still stop cars and ask for a RAISE. this happened on West Coast Demerara.Georgetown is very filthy, lots of garbage. The smell of Ganja in the air, In the City girls openly ask ,if you are looking for action, more so if you look like a foreigner. One disgusted thing is Old Married Men having Sweet Woman and some of the wives knows.Lots of young men standing by the street corner with nothing to do, but if you need drugs, coke, ganja etc.,they can bring you in a minute. But one thing remained the same, The place VERY HOT. Many of you already know this stuff.
Not much has changed since early 70's.

You should go to Guyana and judge for yourself. I go to Guyana every year. Does your Afro Guyanese friend have anything good to say about Guyana?
