PRESIDENT Bharrat Jagdeo Saturday evening stated that the security forces are ready and deployed and made it clear that there will be zero tolerance of any act of violence.
“The security forces have been ready for a while now, and they’re deployed, and anyone who tries to disrupt the polls or tries to harm people because of who they vote for will be dealt with in the way they should be dealt with,” he warned
He stressed that there is no place for violence anymore in Guyana, adding that Guyana has matured as a society.
The president made it clear also that there is no place in Guyana for race and racism, and those who advance such messages and seek to divide the Guyanese people will be dealt with condignly.
“We stand for unity,” he stressed.
Jagdeo said, “GECOM is ready for a good poll…we have to be very vigilant…We have to keep our eyes sharp,” he said. (Vanessa Narine)
