The prorogue of Parliament means the PPP has forfeited the right will to govern

December 19, 2014 | By | Filed Under Letters

Dear Editor, The president’s announcement that he would call elections early in 2015, while not setting a date, clearly shows that he lacks confidence in himself and his party and is afraid to face the electorate who are anxiously waiting to vote them out of office. All the president did was to make another of his many empty and broken promises, hoping that the people will forget by the time next year comes around. His poor and indecisive leadership is cause for major concern, because it could plunge the country into another constitutional disaster. The proroguing of Parliament shows that the PPP has forfeited the right to govern. The majority opposition cannot wait for the country to descend into chaos; they must stand firm and use any and every legal means necessary to expose the illegalities of this incompetent, wicked and untrustworthy PPP regime. They do not have any shame whatever, and will go to any lengths to bully and victimized those who opposed them. The more than 50 lawsuits that high ranking PPP officials filed against Kaieteur News is a case in point. All decent minded Guyanese should stand with Kaieteur News Publisher Glenn Lall and his staff and publicly denounced this wicked regime. Evidence is mounting that the PPP is rapidly losing support all across the country, especially on the Corentyne and is reacting desperately with silly threats and spiteful actions. Therefore, we are encouraging the people to take all the money and all the gifts from the PPP because it is their money but do not vote for this uncaring and anti-working class PPP cabal who has abandoned them. We are convinced that the people will reject the PPP cabal ill-conceived political agenda and their partisan adventure of prorogating Parliament and rule as a dictator. The immoral and dictatorial Jagdeo/Ramotar cabal cannot be trusted. They are two-face in that they pretend to preach unity in the public but they continue to tell their Indian supporters at their secret bottom house meetings that supporters APNU would terrorise  Indians. It is axiomatic that if the opposition and the people reward bad behavior they will certainly get more of it; but if they punish it they will definitely deter it. Thus we are very pleased when Mr. Granger and Mr. Ramjattan rejected outright any talks with the debauched and decadent Jagdeo/Ramotar regime. The president prorogued Parliament for no apparent reason and he must be told in no uncertain terms by the opposition to set a date for the elections and not wait until next year to do so. And for him to delay the elections because he does not want to dampen the Christmas spirit is not true. Since when this uncaring and unrighteous regime is concerned with the people and Christmas? Kudos to Mr. Granger and Mr. Ramjattan for taking a tough stance against the PPP. Whenever an election is called the people will vote against crookedness, oppression and dictatorship. For the last three years, the Ramotar cabal has promised the people the sun and the moon and they have used their snake oil to charm the people but today, too many people “belly ah bun” in Guyana and they are anxiously waiting for the election. The PPP cabal is a dying breed without ideas and must be disposed. Their time is up and no one with a sound and rational mindset should listen to anything coming from Freedom House since it is all polluted with toxic material designed to distort the truth and extend the reign of the lifeless and ideologically bankrupt PPP regime.

The cowards in the PPP can run but they cannot hide. They will eventually have to face the people of Guyana.

Stop Cowardice now PPP, step up and face your own people you ***** hole cowards.

According to the Constitution, Ramotar has to call elections within six months after the prorogue of Parliament, or within four months after Parliament has been dissolved. He can't rule longer than that. So it is not for Ramotar to set a date outside the 6 months limit. Has his advisers who told him to prorogue parliament not given him all the information?

Even the prorogue is legally suspect since it is only to be used in a national or international emergency. There was no national emergency to justify his action.

Perhaps the scribes, Asquith Rose and Harish Singh, seems to be devoid of the ability to read and understand issues.

1. Parliament is prorogued according to proper procedures.

2. Elections must be held within ninety days, or at a longer time determined by the MPs.

3. President Donald Ramotar indicated quite clearly that issues will be addressed after the holiday seasons.

Also Asquith Rose and Harish Singh, how can the people forget the issues about parliament being prorogued and elections must be held in accordance with procedures?
