It always takes the cake and gets the better of most.

Examples:

1.Chief's thread on Stormborn = Talk Name

2. Reza thread on Apple = Good, but end up in prying into the man's private life.

3. Princess Di thread = There goes the neighborhood.

Reality: these threads get more attention than anything of politics. It scores highly and entertains the cutnism in Guyanese.

What will Apple and Potatoes brings next? = I have a bowl of raw rice for the guests.

Just waiting and watching and rocking.

2103: According to Agriculture Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy, Guyana is on track to develop a successful potato industry and the need to import this commodity should be eliminated within the next five years. [key words here being on track, however there is no evidence to support this track]
This is welcome news as it would save our country a tremendous amount of foreign exchange which could be channelled into other areas. [where have you heard of this before? and who was vociferous in condemning this? the same jokers selling it now. but will the sheeple buy it?]

Mits, did you hear about the Pig Farm PNC open at Buxton to supply the Nation and the Caribbean. The PPP gave millions for the Project. Any update??

I believe a pig farm was opened for Trinidadians under Jagdeo's presidency. This was supposedly done to save the Trinis from the high cost of imported (Hogs) that they can't live without. Is this what you talking about, Nehru? Taking about Trinis poke mouth.

I did not hear about it. The PPP/C did educate the PNC that this would save Guyana a tremendous amount of foreign exchange which could be channelled into other areas.

Please post a link to the info on the Pig farm at Buxton.

The PPP started potato planting way back... 2013; I recall speaking to Dr. Ramsammy about this.

Did you follow up on the potato progress with Ramsammy? Or they switch to something more profitable?

NAREI, PROPEL take Irish Potato trials to Santa Fe, Little Biaboo

Five different varieties of Irish potatoes will be cultivated on trial at Santa Fe Mega Farm, Region Nine, through a partnership between the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) and the WUSC

Training in potato cultivation conducted at Little Biaboo

Caribbean (Guyana) Inc.
It is being implemented through a government of Canada funded PROPEL (Promotion of Regional Opportunities for Produce through Enterprises and Linkages).
This collaboration will see two-acres of potatoes being cultivated with approximately 34,000 seeds on trial basis. The varieties being evaluated are Spunta, Kennebec, Chieftain, Bristol Pride and Shepody. Conditions such as climate, soil type and irrigation infrastructure that are conducive for potato production are present at Santa Fe.
Seed-planting commenced this week. The trial duration is 90 days from planting. Once successful, this project is expected to be rolled out in neighbouring communities, says Dr. Oudho Homenauth, Chief Execute Officer of NAREI.
According to Dr. Homenauth, NAREI will be providing technical support to Santa Fe Mega Farm. NAREI's Extension Officers operating in the North Rupununi and Upper Mahaica River recently benefited from separate practical training exercises focused on the good agricultural practices involved in potato production.
Meanwhile, in Little Biaboo, Upper Mahaica River, a quarter-plot trial will be conducted. Seed-planting commenced today. Last week, 16 farmers and 10 staff of NAREI were exposed to training.
The objectives of the trials are: to identify agro-ecological areas on the coast of Guyana that are suitable for the production of potatoes; evaluate the adaptation and performance of the five varieties of potatoes; determine the growers' perception of the various varieties grown; and examine consumers' perception taste and preference.
WUSC Caribbean (Guyana) Inc. with Canadian Government funding, purchased and provided the seeds for the trial; fertilizers were donated by BLT Enterprise. The cost of land preparation and crop husbandry was and will be done by the producers/ farmers.
