How do the voters continue to be a part of the process and not wait another five years (or heaven help them, a shorter period this time around)? information on the process, issues and interests should be widely disseminated so that everyone does not wait another five years for another, to put it politely, collective hand-wringing session. This election should be an eye-opener for them as they have demonstrated overall a grasp of the stakes. The parties and members of parliament should continually be held legally accountable for their actions, and voters should not wait until the next crisis. This includes their demagogues who regurgitate the failed ideologies of the past. Should the voters demand that members demonstrate some basic level of professionalism? Should members be trained in negotiation and mediation? Should their be retirement inducements? Should more of the youth be brought into the process? Hopefully they have some access to open fora where they can participate openly and with transparency. All of this and more need to be on the ground.
