The Paris attacks by the evil Daesh has Obama and the White House slowly pivoting from mere containment of Daesh in territories in Syria and Iraq to ramping up its destruction, so that safe havens must not be used to plan and coordinate attacks like last Friday's.
Obama is still determined to not have US military involvement in a ground war, and even Republicans are reluctant to disagree with him. The plan is to continue to have Arabs eradicate Daesh, but this is going to be intensified. Thew taking of Sinjar and breaking the supply lines last Friday by the Kurds and Yazidis is promising. The US special ops forces helped coordinate that air strikes and ground intel. Mosul and Falluja must be retaken, and here is where you hope the efforts of the Iraqi government to give more authority to Sunni leaders will result in a 2nd Sunni awakening. Only ther Sunnis can defeat Daesh and the Baathists who joined them initially are being wooed back - a reversal of Bush's policy od de-Baathification.
France should step up and put ground troops too - even if it is commando-style special ops only. Jordan tapered off its fight after the initial reaction to the burning of one of its captured pilots. The Saudis need to be reigned in big time though. They got to stop funding and arming Daesh. Obama needs to pressure them some, even by stopping coordinating those criminal strikes in Yemen. Oil is no longer a factor. The Saudis can stop helping lower prices for all they want, the US private sector will step up from their recent cutbacks due to price drop.
