Over the weekend President Donald Ramotar responded to an announcement by the Alliance for Change (AFC) that it will ban log exports if elected to government. Speaking at the Pork Knockers’ Day event held on Saturday in Bartica President Ramotar said “the only way you can do that without affecting the livelihoods of small timber workers generally is to be able to add value to our timber products…It’s a total lie…the propaganda that we are destroying our forest”.
