Succinctly, the flooding issues today are far less than the enormous floods in the 1800's.

While the effects of floods can indeed be extremely uncomfortable, the successive governments of Guyana have/are doing their best to address the situations.

Perhaps, Prof. Ven Te Chow's books on hydraulic and river engineering; with particular reference to the unpredictable erosion along the coast lands of Guyana due to the effects of the Amazon and Orinoco rivers; would be excellent reading materials.

The recent flooding is due to rainfall, and that's what I am talking about, sir. I know they're doing their best to address the situation, is what they do best.

Regarding flooding from strictly rainfall, one needs to be cognizant about the time relative to when the floodgates must be closed because of the high tides.
