This outrageous allegation is utter rubbish – Govt.

The government has viewed as “utter rubbish” the recent claim by the political opposition party, the Alliance For Change (AFC), that the PPP wants to “buy-out” three opposition Parliamentarians at $30M each, so that they would not vote for the no-confidence motion.
In a statement issued yesterday, the government said that it deems the so-called “public revelation” by the AFC Leader Khemraj Ramjattan as a startling disclosure which is tantamount to a smear campaign. The PPP said that it follows a long line of “baseless and delusional utterances emanating from the mouth of Ramjattan which forces the PPP to seriously question Ramjattan’s mental stability.”
The PPP asserted that based upon recent disclosures Ramjattan will not be vying for either the Presidential Candidate or Prime Ministerial position for his party, and therefore the people of Guyana will not be burdened with a person in such a mental state.
The Party said that it rejects this “outrageous allegation” and challenges Mr. Ramjattan to forthwith disclose, publicly, the names of the three Parliamentarians to which he makes reference, and to further make a full and frank public disclosure of all or any information which he claims he has received in relation to this matter.
In addition, the PPP said that it expects Ramjattan to lodge a report with the Guyana Police Force (GPF) immediately, as he has done with other matters. The government called on the AFC Leader to provide the Police with the information he received and request as well an immediate investigation, since his allegations border on criminality.
“From all appearances, the AFC appears to be in stiff competition with the APNU in a race to the bottom, aimed at grabbing media headlines, thus the reckless statements and challenges emanating within recent times from both Parties,” the party added.
It also boasted of having a well-established track record spanning over six decades of defending and struggling for Electoral, Parliamentary and Constitutional democracy and the rule of law. The party said that its democratic credentials are not only recognized nationally and internationally, but can withstand scrutiny from any quarter.
The PPP concluded that it holds firmly to the view that within recent times, the AFC became “unpredictably desperate” as it is obviously prepared to adopt senseless postures and make irrational statements in a quest to exaggerate its importance and standing.
