We are asking the Government to act with caution and common sense.  Please!

What could they do now the PPP is off the leash and is gnashing their teeth that they lost the election? The are making a fool of these poor folks who by the way are lucky when they work to be paid above the average rate of Guyanese in general.

The government is at its wits end to reconcile not having to close factories and fallow land because it will be accused of being spiteful to indians. The PPP left this industry in a pickle with debts accruing to some 60 billion and production costs ( because of the scuttling the old factories) before testing the new one. The new one causes sugar production to cost four times market prices.

What can the government do here that you or anyone know to stop the PPP from its habitual duping sugar workers to act against their interest? This was a matter of sober minds to get together and formulate some bonus scheme to compensate sugar workers because the exceeded production targets.

This industrial action cost them more by digging a deeper hole for their industry. The government will have to go before parliament and swallow its pride and come up with subsidies here if it wants to keep this industry alive. Other than that it downsize and fire some of these very workers then they will know the value of a job. Note some 25 percent of the society is out of work or under employed!

This incompetent government don't have common sense to deal with sugar workers or the sugar industry. Their sense is to run the entire industry into the ground and grow tillapia. How many afros are cutting cane, planting rice or doing farming for a living? How many Afros are thieves compared to Indians? These two questions make all the sense you need from this quack government.

There are very many Afros farming and quite a few in the cane fields. This is not about afro vs Indo but the viability of an industry in deep trouble because of incompetence.

stop being an ass!

asking all the wrong questions while pretending to be naive

Kish did you forget PPP took the Sugar Workers Vote....but...left the Sugar Industry Bankrupt on May 11th 2015.

Do you know on May 11th PPP was Dead....

But the Sugar Workers & GAWU was also in the Coffin and left to be Cremated.....

Did you know AFC-APNU Govt took the Sugar Workers, GAWU & GUYSUCO off the Cremation Table..... bringing them back from the Dead ......and give them life again....and had them achieving all types of Production Records which were never achieved under the PPP.

Do you think it is unreasonable for PPP, GAWU and the SUGAR Workers to wait a few Days more until the results of the Parvattan Commission of Inquiry into the state of affairs of GUYSUCO and a way forward is announced....then sit with the Govt to have wage talks....and thank them for all they have been doing since May 11th.

SUGAR WORKERS WERE REPRESENTED ON THE PARVATAN COI BY GAWU LEADERSHIP.......SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

IT IS NOT LIKE GOVT WAS DOING SOMETHING IN SECRET TO HURT THE SUGAR WORKERS.

So tell us what the Govt did wrong by keeping the Sugar Industry Alive and providing it with life support since May 11th.
