I understand that Tiger Bay has changed from its traditional lumpenproletariat, working-poor character to a business quarter. The PPP government started the process by relocating the common folks and the M&CC demolished the old decrepit buildings. I can't say whether the process is completed though.
Several of the people of Tiger Bay have expressed that they miss President Jagdeo. He always looked out for their needs.
Awwww..I feel for 'em.
Real tigers must have lived there hence the name Tiger Bay

Georgetown's Tiger Bay was named after another Tiger Bay next to a seaport in Wales UK. That Tiger Bay had a reputation of being a tough and dangerous neighborhood, according to Wikipedia. It was also a red light district frequented by sailors, just like Tiger Bay in Georgetown.
Thanks for the historical facts

Tiger Bay is where the singer Shirley Bassey was born. Her mom had five kids for five different African men. One of them was probably our boy the Carib.
