Top Indian project engineering companies seeking investments in Guyana
Advisor to the Government of South Sudan Ambassador Deepak Vohra is in Guyana examining opportunities and challenges facing the country’s sugar industry and is at the same time partnering with one of India’s leading project engineering companies Angelique International Limited in search of investment.
He met President Donald Ramotar today for talks in this regard and was joined by Director and Joint President of Angelique International Limited Mohinder Pratap Gupta.
At the heart of the investment interests are energy, potable water, irrigation, industrial projects, low cost housing and transport.
Angelique International Limited was established in 1996, and has grown into a reputable engineering procurement and contracting company that undertakes projects in power, water, irrigation and agriculture sectors in international markets of Africa, Middle East, South and South East Asia.
The company’s interest in Guyana stems from its renewed vision to prioritise focus beyond markets in Asia and Africa and into the Caribbean and Latin America which Ambassador Vohra deemed “a very exciting region.”
“There was a feeling for many years, right or wrong… that this area was under the domination of one or more countries of the Western Hemisphere, but now it seems that the perception is changing and Indian companies are increasingly looking at Latin America and the Caribbean for development partnership and cooperation,” Ambassador Vohra told the Government Information Agency (GINA) in an invited comment.
