Mr. Sesh Sukhdeo

Senior Project Manager of Guyana’s One Laptop Per Family (OLPF) project, Sesh Sukhdeo has been given marching orders but it is unclear whether the decision would be reversed.

Sukhdeo declined to confirm that he has been fired ahead of the expiration of his current contract in June, 2012. But he has indirectly acknowledged that he is no longer with the project.

The reasons for him and the OLPF parting company were not immediately clear.

While Presidential Office spokesman, Kwame Mc Coy has bluntly denied that Sukhdeo has been told to leave including instructed to clear his desk, another well-placed source has confirmed that the Guyana-born Briton is no longer with the multi-million project.

Another OLPF source has told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) that the decision to shelve Sukhdeo was taken during a review of the OLPF the Office of the President under which the project falls.

It is unclear whether the decision by the Policy and Management Committee to sever ties with Sukhdeo would be reversed by the Presidential Secretariat.

Sukhdeo, according to sources, had given up lucrative job-offers to become the Senior Project Manager  of the OLPF.

This project has had some major missteps.  The former project manager was a unqualified  lil white bai with the peace corps working for $5US one day and suddenly making 100K US per year.  Then they had to give him the boot when his incompetence was exposed. How hard can this job be to distribute laptops that they got so high turnover?
