My favorite states are Colorado and Arizona .

Love to drive on 81 through the Appalachian Mountain range with stops at the a few caves in Virginia.
drove from NY to Norfolk (country music July 4 celebration), then on to Tennessee (Nashville, Pigeon Forge, Smoky Mountains), then drove to New Orleans.
Love going to Maine...hiking up the mountains in New Hampshire
Maine will be my closest US neighbour in the next 6-7 months. Maybe I'll take a trip there one day to see what Stephen King sees in the place.
Drive the 75 from Atlanta to Detroit. Plenty trucks on the road but very nice views.

You will have to switch from Ganja to opioid when you move to Maine.
Bar Harbour is a nice place to visit when there is no fog, plus you can take the Cat to Nova Scotia a much nicer place 
Yo chief, lets go Arizona in December.
Prince Edward Island is nice. Ate the best curried shrimp on the beach. Bought it at the wharf, cooked it at the cottage, took it down to the beach and feasted. Long drive from Ontario to get there. Good trip.
Ontario to Florida, nice driving there too. Went there in 69, cautioned by white canadians not to go. Dey still had signs for Black people. I din see any and I ate everywhere. Was turned away from one motel-no vacancy.

I did Nashville to Memphis.
Visited Elvis Presley home and museum, Graceland, , very very nice.
Kalispell Montana and Glacier Park. Idaho is pretty too.

Nehru's road trip is usually from his house to Liberty Avenue. Just messing with you Nehruski. 
While I have seem many parts of the US, it is usually done at the spur of the moment. I do not generally plan things very long in advance. I like road trips because I have more control on time and space where I don't have to confine to any preplanned activities. That level of freedom works best for me.
