Did Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee resign while a Commission of Inquiry investigated police killing of three persons and police brutality against dozens more at Linden two years ago?

There were strident calls for Rohee's resignation but he stuck to his ministerial seat like a leech.

Granted, the COI found Rohee not personally responsible for the police action and he could have got his job back if he had resigned during the COI hearings. He didn't.

One may wonder if the AFC knew those allegations were about to be made public since last week, so in an attempt to divert attention they created the 30 million "buy out" smoke screen to avoid serious damage.

Trotman resigning is not action but necessary for Guyanese to have confidence in Parliament.

It is a very high office and we must have a full and impartial investigation to clear the name of the Speaker which is necessary for the people to have confidence in Parliament.

The opposition can elect another speaker until the investigation is completed.

The speaker can have his job back if he is cleared of wrongdoing.

In the meanwhile, we must not pass judgement.
