LONDON -- Britain's defense secretary warned Iran Thursday that any attempt to block the key global oil passageway the Strait of Hormuz would be illegal and unsuccessful – hinting at a robust international response.

During his first visit to the Pentagon for talks with U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, Philip Hammond told the Atlantic Council in Washington that the presence of British and American naval ships in the Persian Gulf would ensure the route is kept open for trade.

Iran has threatened to close the route in possible retaliation to new U.S. and European economic sanctions, a tactic the U.S. already has said it would not tolerate.

Who want mullas with a bomb? The sanctions are to prevent a war, If they want to close the gulf the entire international community would be against them, Asia gets most of its oil from the gulf and would not fuss much if the US, France, Germany and the UK bomb them into the dirt,

The mullahs have no bomb, and according to the CIA, they gave up trying to build one in 2003. This is another transparent media hoax like the Iraqi WMDs. As for the sanctions, sanctions are an act of war, so the idea that they are intended to prevent war is more stupidness. The Brits need a war bad, or else Asia is going to be the new center of the world economy as the North Atlantic region sacrifices itself on the altar of the banksters.

Why does Argentina own those islands and not England again? The Argentine are colonials as are the British and if seizure and claim was the case in those time so be it. They took it in the early 1800's as they took Guyana from the Dutch so I guess we belong to the dutch,

Speaking of the Malvinas, the Brits are heating that one up again.

I guess all the kernels of wisdom are to be found on larouche pac.I forgot...they get a hard on every-time something happens in the world and see the British imperial hand in it all.

never said they have one, I said who wants a mullah with a bomb! The sanctions are to ensure the Iranians follow international rules, If they do not then they should not mind that specific nations in the community refuse to deal with them

You might want to take a look at a map. The Malvinas lie off the coast of Argentina, and they are thousands of miles from the UK. Guyana belongs to the Guyanese. If the British were to present some bogus argument that they own some islands in the Essequibo, most Guyanese would take offense. I said "most."

I think every group in the West are thousands of miles from where they belong including the Argentines who even as recently as a few years ago denied native peoples existed in Argentina. The British has every right to claim the place by conquest, I do not see the children of Incas ruling Argentina. Even they would not be able to claim the islands,

With language like this no wonder the Muslim world hate the west. You speak like those lives and properties over there are worthless.
