Uncle speaks of himself:

UNCLE DEO

For democracy, once of oath, I carried a gun
Convinced, of the world, to be its greatest need
Of nothing consistent I’d experientially learn
It was time to examine my life as such deed

Under same very oath; make, model of gun
Overseas I was deployed; an area of combat
To man’s greatest need as to God I did turn
My life; many others made better since that

This troubled economy is as likened a garbage heap
For only the rats seem to be doing well
Mainly of government; those whose company they keep
By those who buy everything cheaply; expensively sell

This troubled economy can be related a garbage heap
For only the rats amongst seem to be doing well
As the ones who act appreciatively but of such needs
Yet the majority, not even opportunity, of misery to tell

It’s never mentioned (when we complain) every attempt to bribe has failed
The β€œunder the table” motivation given someone by our offer of ill money
And when we decide to do so it is never given in its exact degrading details
And that it is a matter of practice (that there are instances; so many)

We never say that we’re always on the look-out for a way to short-cut
In everything that we need to do by some affordable price to pay
So in a habitual daily profile do so bribe; but every system, corrupt
And so from a world of honest results but relentlessly shy away

Most anything of social value has been abandoned
Giving way to dire needs and means of β€œgetting there”
And as a nation but horribly kept within such cordons
So interact with each other; so our very young, prepare

Most everything of social value has been eroded
In a haste and frenzy on cheap opportunity to capitalize
In an ugly shape and devastatingly but so encoded
In a legacy to be left our young can only but despise

By virtue of self-styled, lively β€œhoods” emerges our economy
That facilitates some of an arrival but most of a survival
Set in attitudes of lost values just so can make some money
That makes life (its daily struggles) one huge ill carnival

By virtue of self-styled lively β€œhoods” is born such economy
That some seriously claim it has shown some growth
So or not but already of an ill earned reputation nationally
Morally troubling but of which there is no quantified report
