I wish to bring to the hierarchy of the Guyana Police Force some of the good work achieved by ' G 'Division police officers.

First, the traffic officers on the Essequibo Coast must be commended for their proactiveness and presence on the roadways, both during the nightime and daytime, with the influx of several established auto sales in the region, the volume of vehicles have increased three-fold compared to two years ago, thus demanding a more stern traffic coordination and monitoring.
In Essequibo, there is one main road along the sea coast with huge trenches along the sides of the roadways. Farmers (tractors), animal-drawn carts, trucks, combines, cyclists, pedestrians and all and sundry used the only walk and drive- way to move in the region.
There are still many instances of drinking alcohol and driving, along with over- speeding taking place. There have been several fatalities for the year on the roadway already.
I strongly feel that the police department needs to be equipped with the necessary tools so as to achieve its goals; for example, more speed guns; breathalyzer equipment; cloaks for the rainy season; and more vehicles inclusive of motor bikes for the traffic department. While there is need to fill the potholes on the roadways which are vivid while driving from Charity to Supenaam, that also is a traffic hazard, because several times vehicles have collided while navigating those craters on the road .The Ministry of Public Works has been lapsing tremendously with the maintenance of a few wooden bridges with the spikes exposing just to damage your tyres.
I do look forward for some changes since summer is now coming on and many guests (tourists) will be arriving from abroad just to laugh at us as was experienced by myself on several occasions.
I thank all those involved in the decision- making process to act early on my advice and recommendations so that we can continue on the correct path of progress and development.
I wish at the same time in my split to call on those senior public servants who are lazy, dormant, and don’t want to work to move this country forward to do the good thing and vacate your positions and give others a chance who want to see things happen at a rapid rate. Time for procrastination is over;
Let progress continue.
