Four containers of milk turned back

Four containers of evaporated and condensed milk were refused entry to the country last month as they didn’t meet the prescribed standards because they contained vegetable fat, a release from the Government Analyst – Food and Drug Department (GA-FDD) said today.

The GA-FDD said the milk shipments were refused entry because they are non-complaint with the prescribed standard for Evaporated Milk, Condensed Milk and /or Sweetened Condensed Milk as found in regulations 13 & 14 Division # (5) of the Food and Drug Regulations 1977 and the International Food Standard Codex STD for milk fat products (CODEX STAN 280-1973) Codex Alimentarius. In all cases milk fat was substituted with various forms of vegetable fat, the Department said.

The brands refused entry were:

1 Best Liat Sweetened Condensed Milk

2 Global Sweetened Condensed Milk

  1. Tastu Evaporated Creamer

According to the prescribed standard Evaporated Milk shall contain no less than 25.0% milk solids and 7.5 % milk fat, while Condensed Milk or Sweetened Condensed Milk shall contain no less than 28.0% milk solids and 8.0% milk fat, the release noted.

The GA-FDD said that action was made possible because of “unprecedented support and cooperation” received from the Guyana Revenue Authority.

What this has to do with Jagdeo and Sattur . Had these containers pass through, you would have sing a different tune.

Kudos to the person who did a great job.

Under Jagdeo & Sattaur containers were passing without any problem.

Sattaur send a e-mail to Jagdeo & Nandalall....saying...."We all in this together".
