Image result for deportees aircraft

The aircraft with the 20 Guyanese nationals touched down at the Cheddi Jagan Airport just after 3:30pm and some of the men appeared in grey and white prison outfits as they disembarked the aircraft.

US Government agents on Tuesday accompanied 20 deportees on a special chartered flight to Guyana and other Caribbean destinations.

The aircraft with the 20 Guyanese nationals touched down at the Cheddi Jagan Airport just after 3:30pm and some of the men appeared in grey and white prison outfits as they disembarked the aircraft.

They were deported from the United States after serving time in prison for various offenses, including homicide, rape, possession of firearms, fraud, drug trafficking and robberies.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told News Source on Tuesday afternoon that the men are being interviewed at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department. Once those interviews would have been completed, they are expected to be released.

They will have to make regular visits to various police stations at specific times as part of a monitoring process.

Guyana has complained in the past about persons being deported after they would have left the country at a very young age.  Many deportees find themselves not being able to locate family members and would eventually have to do odd jobs to survive, even as others have chosen to live on the streets.

The US has been assisting with various reintegration programmes and the government is expected to get more of those programmes put in place.

21 deportees arrive from US; to be monitored

At least 21 Guyanese deportees arrived from the United States (US) Tuesday afternoon, after serving jail terms for various offences.

Head of the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Criminal Investigations Department, Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum said the deportees were convicted for homicide, narcotics, robbery and other offences.

Blanhum said the deportees would be monitored. β€œWe will be monitoring them. Yes, there is legislative provision for that and we’ll be monitoring them,” he told Demerara Waves Online News.

The plane landed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport  at about 3:30 PM and the involuntary migrants deplaned and were escorted by police and immigration under tight security.

They were expected to be transported under armed police escort to the CID Headquarters where they would be processed and released.

While Caribbean governments have over the years complained that deportees, with hardly any family ties in the land of their birth, often continue a life of crime. However, the United States has told the region that there is no research evidence to prove that claim.

Falicia Adams of Juncata Juvant, an organisation dedicated to improving the lot of deportees in Guyana, says efforts would be made to ensure the involuntary re-migrants are accommodated at government-run shelters. She said the private sector would also be approached to assist with employment wherever possible.

The nine-year old organisation, she said, was only made aware of the arrival of the deportees through the print media. However, Adams said efforts are being made to formalise a relationship with the relevant authorities.

Juncata Juvant was recently resuscitated.

A 29 year old male supervisor was Tuesday afternoon nursing a gunshot wound to his right thigh, having been robbed and shot by one of two bandits in the compound of the Ministry of Finance .

I am in total agreement with this process.  Let us deport all who break the law, green card and non-green card (illegals) back to their land of birth.  USA has no place for criminal KAKA-holes.

Granger was longing for Guyanese to return home under his administration. His dream will be fulfilled when Trump gets into office in January 2017. This is only the preview of the main attraction.

These deportees got early Christmas, now free to practice their skills on the streets of Guyana, fresh from training in the USA.

I will like to see Roger Khan go back and also that real estate fraudster, think Ahmed is his name. Seize their assets and then send them backside back

Both of them are likely to be sent back when the federal government gets the cream out of them. That depends on the plea bargain agreement, though. A state case Is different from a federal case under these circumstances.

i believe both Ahmad and Khan might be naturalized citizens. I  am not sure they can be sent back. The criminals who are currently being sent back are either residents or illegal. The US can strip them of their residency and send them back after they serve their time.

This is right thing to do. Way to Go USA. Trump will send back larger planeloads of criminals. Grainjaw can increase his support base.

Canada should start doing the same soon.

Chief and Carib will be screaming racism as these law breakers are posted back.

In all fairness, there will be a lot of Indians in their midst!  I know the fam of one Indian guy who was sent back last year after serving a 25 years sentence for homicide!

If I'm not mistaken, it has to be treason to be stripped, I may be wrong!  But these are laws which can be changed, it will be a challenge to get passed!

US delivers 20 Guyanese born deportees on special flight, http://newssourcegy.com/news/u...s-on-special-flight/

Simple matter ....

1. Foreigners who are not naturalize US_of_A citizens will be deported to their country of natural birth when s/he completes or in the process of completing their sentences.

2. These activities are a permanent feature happening on a regular basis, for individuals from all countries.

1. There must be extenuating circumstances for the US_of_A to strip a person of their legitimate US_citizenship. Such decisions MUST be made by a Judge after the matter has gone through the entire process and has been decided in a Court of Law.

2. If a foreigner legitimately gains US_citizenship and is incarcerated, s/he remains in the US_of_A after serving the sentence(s).
