US will continue support for Guyana in security, governance and other areas -Amb. Lynch

With a new Government in place, the United States intends to continue its support for Guyana in a number of areas of partnership.

Guyana and the US have been enjoying diplomatic relations for over 50 years and the relationship between the US and Guyana has been strong over those years.

US Ambassador to Guyana, Sarah Ann Lynch today said the relationship will continue to be strong and there will be support in a number of areas.

According to Ambassador Lynch, β€œas you know we work in a number of areas, including security assistance, governance assistance, and economic development. I have already met with the President about deepening our ties in all of those areas and we are looking at existing programs and building on those and also exploring new areas in those three major areas”.

During the just-concluded elections, the US Government through its State Department applied pressure on the last government as the wait for the final declaration prolonged for five months. Visa sanctions were even instituted against a number of still to be named officials.

The US has extended its best wishes to the new President and Government.

On the issue of the current Coronavirus pandemic, Ambassador Lynch noted that more assistance will be offered to Guyana and the Caribbean. The US has already dispatched assistance to Guyana and a number of other Caribbean countries as the COVID-19 situation remains worrying.

The United States has recorded the most COVID-19 cases and deaths in the world.

We tried that already and it is a disaster.  We should ask Britain for help, not the US.

Anyone who can write a constitution with good cross reference tools would be very useful to Guyana. Look how much confusion Guyana's current constitution provided for the Coalition. They couldn't even understand that 33 persons is the majority of the absolute composition of the 65 persons Assembly.

Japan was a conquered nation--guess you are suggesting that Guyana is the same.  You and your principal are true patriots.

Japan is no longer a conquered nation but yet they still rely on that constitution.

But since you are on conquered, which country can consider itself more conquered than Guyana which has a begging bowl to the rest of the world.
