Vice President Woos Investors For Ghana's PPP

The Vice President, Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, has called on international financial institutions as well as the private sector to partner the government in developing Ghanaβs energy sector. He says a similar partnership was also required in constructing world class roads, hospitals and other infrastructural needs of the country.
The Vice President made the call when he held discussions with the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Africa, Mr Andrew Dell, on the sidelines of the 23rd World Economic Forum in Cape Town, South Africa on Wednesday.
Mr Amissah-Arthur said the government was ready to ensure a fruitful public private partnership in the delivery of critical infrastructural needs of the country. This approach to financing projects, the Vice President said is intended to provide opportunity for private sector participation in the development of the country as well as reduce the huge public debt that result from the delivery of infrastructure projects.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Africa, Mr Andrew Dell, pointed out that HSBC has had a long standing relations with Ghana through Cocobod and other institutions and welcomed the governmentβs new drive towards public private partnership. Mr Dell also mentioned that HSBC was keen on operating from Ghana.
