No, funding govt run media is an attack on freedom of the press. These entities should not be controlled by govt and should be self sustaining.

GINA is in the business of disseminating government information. It is not a money making entity. Ask Moses

Most country of the world has an agency with the sole responsible of disseminating government information, bringing the citizens abreast of the Government policies and its implementation. Moses Nagamootoo once headed GINA when he was the Minister of Information. The attempts to Silence GINA is also viewed as an attempt to rob the Guyanese public vital information of programs of the State and the implementation of its policies

GOG should not be in the TV or radio business

they give plenty licenses to their partners to do this...GINA is just an unwarranted expense

The cutting of GINA from the Budget is also viewed as an attack on press freedom

GNI make over 500 million last year what the hell they need help for charge the two that steal from GNI and then ask for taxpayers money

But that is not the case, they are in the business of disseminating propaganda biased towards govt and is a tool, historically of the ruling party.  It would be more cost effective for govt to outsource legitimate information to the public via privately run stations.

Problem is, you gotta  have legit information to be able to outsource it.

The Guyana public are always eager to be kept abreast with the Government policies and its implementation,but cutting NCN and GINA would deny Guyanese that basic right of keeping abreast with currents affairs of the state
