In typical PPP style the world was fed another serving of deceit and pretense that the Irfaan Ali regime cares about national unity and is prepared to champion the cause of Black people in Guyana. No statement is further from the truth than this. But whereas the goodwill projected on the stage of the United Nations (UN) may fool some of the people or serve well the regime’s agenda, African Guyanese and the less gullible are not fooled by the masquerade witnessed on the international stage the past few days.

Of all the issues that could have been addressed at the UN, Ali provided comedic relief advancing his government’s support for Reparative Justice for the descendants of slaves in Guyana. Appearing before other world leaders, these are the exact words scripted for him to present to present to international body: – “Guyana is committed to gaining international reparations for the crime of African enslavement. Reparative justice must not only include a full and unconditional apology from those responsible and/or who benefitted from the transatlantic trade in captive Africans and their consequent enslavement, but must go beyond apology.”

It is not surprising to African Guyanese his tongue could not easily roll off the word “reparative,” as hard as he tried. All that his mind could have allowed him to articulate is the sound ‘re-pa-ra-ra-tive,’ a word that does not exist is any known vocabulary. Evidently, the gods were provoked by his deceptive attempt to speak to a word that he has no genuine care for. It was though the power of the gods came down on him and tied his tongue rather than have him advance a lie at that international forum.

The Bible reminds that a lying tongue is an abomination. It is the belief of many that had Ali got that word out, he and his Vice President, Bharat Jagdeo, another notable deceiver, would have been struck by fire and brimstone. They were on sacred ground, in an august body, that champions the rights of the downtrodden, the deprived, and marginalised of the world. This was definitely not a place for them, and the deceit was exposed by unseen power, interceding on our behalf.
It would have been better had Ali and his Vice President, who was similarly struck by the gods with “orgasm” instead of organism, prepared to the tell the UN of their government plan of delivering equality, social, economic, and political justice in Guyana. The truth is they have none. Guyanese, particularly African Guyanese and the poor across ethnic lines, continue to see basic rights, freedoms and human dignity slipping further away under the Ali/Jagdeo regime.

Instead of entangling themselves with issues of African reparation, which they have no good intent towards, they must turn their attention to domestic matters which they have control over. They should leave matters of reparations in the capable hands of notable Africans and others in the international community, who are vested, loyal and committed to anti-Black oppression. Let them put their house in order first. They are in the seat of power in Guyana.Let them address, in an inclusionary manner, the management of the pandemic that would restore confidence and cooperation with efforts that would limit the spread of the virus and reduce associated deaths and sufferings.

Let them address equitable COVID-19 relief measures and provide caring and compassionate services to all individuals and communities based on needs.Let them address the needs of the pensioners; the public servants and teachers who keep the engine of government turning and are trapped in a poverty circle. Let them address the plight of the homeless, mentally ill, and victims of substance abuse, many of whom are on the streets suffering unsightly and dangers to themselves and society. They should address those state associated murders, corruption and other state excesses.

Let them settle the continuing and rising grievances caused by marginalisation and oppression of workers’ rights, and other injustices meted out to the Guyanese labour force. They must create the environment for a safe, healthy society for our children to grow and develop their true potential. Let them bring an end to vindictive governance and creation of disunity among our peoples. Let them create an inclusive Guyana.

What we saw the last few days on the international scene is no comfort to Guyanese. Not only did we see twisted tongues from both, dropping and adding syllable to words and inappropriate choice of words, we saw the President of Guyana for who he truly is- existing only in the shadow of the Vice President who is living his third term.

This is usurpation of presidential power, a disgrace to the Guyanese, Muslim, PPP, communities and the Ali family to suffer such indignities not permitted in the Constitution and violates the fundamental concept of what an election is all about.

Man, tell the PNC to change and be more responsible. If not, stan quiet. Because Jagdeo ain going anywhere, he gat plenty more Presidents to hatch, he sitting on the one now and the ones to come. Doan worry bout Ali, he has the same fate as Ramotar-forgotten. Robert will be next President then Jagdeo will tek a lil break and return to crown the next President. Maybe, with Bob, the PPP will be disbanded and a monarchy set up. WE looking at 2050, strange tings could happen.

Jagdeo is the President for life, all because racist Granger refused honor the gift handed to him. He dismissed about 25000 Indian votes.

on the other hand, guyanese businessmen in NY attended meetings where they rubbed shoulders with Ali and Jagdeo, the muslims hugged up their brother Ali, everyone very anxious to do business in guyana, and here's GNI member Chief

had to drag you kicking and screaming but it's all coming out now

there was the theft of an afc seat (region 10) in the 2006 election that sam hinds squatted on - think gocool budhu was involved - that would have made the ppp a minority government back then

then gocool got busted trying to steal another seat in 2011 by vincent alexander. this time the ppp became a minority government

then they tried with the fake SOPs in 2015. turned out gecom under surujbally had the foresight to place a secret mark on its SOPs only known to the trusted and the ppp got busted. they subsequently campaigned for surujbally to be removed as chairman of gecom and he left

ppp again cheated at the 2020 election. 47 ballot boxes with no statutory documents in their strongholds, voter impersonation, dead people votes and other irregularities

that a false narrative became established that the coalition cheated and ppp didn't at the 2020 election was down to the ppp's better pr machine - it has always been better than the coalition's

them boys know the ppp been manipulating election results (in some shape or form) ever since they came to power in 92. nothing alyuh could say will change that

suh keep talking the tings, holey-red-lace-panty. might yet be a place for you with your maker

lol

We know there is no true democracy there. And we know about the PNC 28 years, that is alyuh favorite refrain.

But alyuh PPPites always maintain that the PPP don't rig elections. Matter of fact yuh seh is pure riggers and friggers deh pon Jangles site. Well, is good yuh come clean now.

And that is why they won't answer the petition fuh court case or whatever (Spugum help me out hay) that would reveal that they DO rig! 47 ballot boxes up in the air.

fighting tooth and nail not to have the petitions (#99/2020 and #88/2020) heard in court. both are before the appeal court

the ppp particularly don't want petition 99 heard. it alledges "widespread voter impersonation; widespread noncompliance with documentation; the flawed voters' list to begin with and several other irregularities"

should the court order an investigation into the allegations of petition 99,  it'll be curtains for the myth that only the pnc rig elections

so let's have the investigation to find out what happened. this sort of thing hanging over future elections cannot be good for the country and could lead to all sorts of problems

why would the ppp make the case that coalition concerns should be pursued via petition then try as hard as they can to get the very petitions thrown out of court without being heard? if you have nothing to hide, face the petition and kill the "conspiracy theory"

I refer to Spugum's post re petitions 88 and 99 before the court of appeals.

This should be a slam dunk for the PPP if the coalition loses the appeal. PPP sycophant supporters can then "kya kya kya" and squeal in delight like they did about 32 greater than 33 etc. If the coalition is a bunch of idiots, the PPP should be anxious to expose it.

PPP should be clamoring for these petitions to be heard. Why not? Why are the actively trying to prevent them from being heard? What is in these petitions that they fear if they didn't mess with the elections??!!

Mingo, Lowenfeld etc. got dragged before the courts. Let the courts hear the 2 appeals filed by the coalition.

Explain these great things the PPP are doing? You must be talking about the speech at the UN, well that speech was fraught with lies.

Accusations of CORRUPTION again. WhistleblowerGuyana has learned that two directors GWI have resigned with immediate effect - citing instances of corruption and lack of transparency and accountability by CEO, Shaik Baksh. Frank Sanichara (Glenn Lall's son-in-law) and Rhonda Lam of the TCI have said that the GWI board has little or no say in things at GWI. The board has been "a rubber stamp" Readers would recall that we highlighted the BILLIONS being "awarded" to Dax Mohamed? Well, we were right. Baksh, is accused of massive corruption. He unilaterally and illegally awards billions of dollars in contracts to friends. One of which is Dax Construction, owned by Baksh masjid friend, Faisal ‘Dax’ Mohamed. Ali, the country’s first Muslim president, was accused of ordering the illegal awards of billions of dollars of contracts to his close friend, Azruddin Mohamed, of Mohamed’s Enterprise, and several other businesses in the Muslim community. Here is a repeat. All for the cabal and the brotherhood. Even the honest and hardworking Muslims in Guyana are alarmed at the disgusting display of dishonourable conduct of Ali and Baksh.

Shadow of corruption

One of the underlying motifs of former PPP/C administrations was the persistent cry of corruption whether via procurement, kickbacks or questionable wholesale deal-making with cronies that stuck to these administrations like leaches. The charge of endemic corruption, which it was said that Freedom House and its governments were fully aware of, led to the dramatic resignation in 2012 of party executive Ralph Ramkarran after nearly 50 years in the PPP.

Just over a year into this PPP/C administration there are already troubling signs which President Ali must look at carefully or face the risk that corruption and its spectre could easily undermine the credibility and effectiveness of his administration.

The Ministry of Agriculture is now the locus of two inexplicable deeds where even after its usual bluster and fulminations it has convinced no one of the propriety of its actions. Indeed, independent investigations should be launched of both.

The first, of course, was the infamous issuing of two trawler licences supposedly to a fisherman who remains unknown to the fishing community here and in Trinidad and it further remains unknown as to what use these licences have been put. The illegal issuing of the licences had first been exposed by the Guyana Association of Trawler Owners and Seafood Processors. The Association would later abandon its activism no doubt after its key constituents were placated by those in authority. Such is the quality of advocacy in this country.

It remains the case that the licences were illegally issued and possibly to a straw player for use by some other person. The Ministry of Agriculture has to be held fully accountable for this. President Ali must not believe that incidents such as these are not being chronicled and that his administration has escaped repercussions.

There is now the matter of the steel sheets retendering which the same Ministry of Agriculture has found itself in even greater discombobulation and dissembling. For months the letter pages of the media and social media had been filled with references to shenanigans about the tendering. Those who complained were fully convinced that the retendering was intended to favour a particular supplier.

Perhaps lacking any real grasp of the procurement act and its requirements, when challenged by media reports on the retendering, the Ministry quickly sought to place itself above reproach by claiming in a press release on Monday that it was the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) which had initiated the retendering. This notion was quickly put to rest by the NPTAB in an interview with Stabroek News on Tuesday where it was pointed out that it was the procuring agency, in this case the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) of the Ministry of Agriculture which would be the initiator of such a process. Having no doubt gotten wind of the fact that the NPTAB was putting itself in the clear, the Ministry of Agriculture quietly withdrew its press release on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, in conversations with Stabroek News, both the Chairman and CEO of NDIA, Lionel Wordsworth and Frederick Flatts respectively denied having anything to do with the retendering. It therefore left the Ministry of Agriculture as the source of the decision-making. Yesterday, the Ministry issued a new press release, quite different from the first, essaying an explanation of why the various tenders were issued. It admitted to a third tender without the annulment of the second. The ministry’s press release should be carefully scrutinised by the procurement authorities as there are clearly problems with the entire process and bidders would have good reason to be concerned about the rectitude of proceedings.

Ultimately, President Ali will have to be the one to stamp his imprimatur on clean, corrupt-free governance. However, this would be impossible without the institutional checks and balances against corrupt behaviour. More than a year into the PPP/C term in office, two key bodies are handicapped: the Public Procurement Commission and its tribunal and the Integrity Commission. Without these two important bodies fully functioning, corruption will grow into a major problem particularly with the expansion of the oil and gas industry and there will also be the view that these institutions are being deliberately suppressed. The President must act.

Mr. KP ,great things by the PPP ,same old ,same old.

You sound Kinda Paranoid now that the shit is about to hit the fan and that your beloved PPP will be exposed as TEEFING VOTES!

"why waste time with this court"? So that it can be established that election irregularities are not on one side. Of what use is it to "start preparing for the next election" if the system is gamed for the PPP always to win and there is cheating on their part too?

Your answer is not surprising. People like you believe black folks have no rights to air grievances or have access to the judicial system. That is the exclusive right of people like you and the PPP. If you had an ounce of integrity and wanted a functioning system, you too would want the truth and allow the appeal to be heard.

But no. Black people are just supposed to "tek it". That is what you, Basekunt, the effeminate bramin and the other bigots advocate for and incite across the street.
