Vigil held for Linden trio killed in 2012: Scores turned out at the Wismar-Mackenzie Bridge on Monday for a candlelight vigil to commemorate the lives of the three Lindeners—Shemroy Boyea, Ron Somerset and Alan Lewis—who were shot dead on July 18, 2012 during the Linden protest. The men were among hundreds of Linden residents, who had protested over the government’s plan to hike electricity rates in that community. They were killed and several others injured when police opened fire on a group who had blocked the Wismar-Mackenzie Bridge. On Monday, hundreds of red candles were lit and placed on the ground to form the letters R, A and S – the dead men’s first initials. Among those in attendance were the former and current Regional Chairmen Sharma Solomon and Renis Morian respectively and attorney Nigel Hughes.
