Wednesday, September 28, 2011.
The police today announced that the Head of the West Demerara Police Division has been moved to Police HQ to head a Department of Development.
It is unclear what this Department of Development will be doing. The move of Persaud to Eve Leary will likely be interpreted in law enforcement circles as a demotion.
In the statement, the police said that the “Police Force Administration has made the following postings at Divisional and Branch Command level with effect from October 01, 2011.
“Assistant Commissioner Balram Persaud, who is presently in command of the Police ‘D’ Division (West Demerara/East Bank Essequibo), has been posted to Force Headquarters to head the Department of Development.
“Senior Superintendent Brian Joseph, who is presently Divisional Commander ‘G’ Division (Essequibo Coast and Islands) has been posted in command of ‘D’ Division.
“Superintendent Stephen Mansell, who is presently at CID Headquarters, has been posted in command of ‘G’ Division.”
IS MOVING COMMANDERS AROUND THE SAME AS MOVING PRIEST AROUND, WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM ?
