West Demerara were crowned champions of the Inter Association Under-15 50-over tournament which concluded recently in Demerara. West Demerara and Georgetown recorded the same number of victories after three rounds of matches, however their clash was rained out and West Demerara prevailed with a higher net run rate. In the second round played at Enmore, Georgetown defeated East Coast Demerara by 54 runs. Georgetown batted first and scored 164 all out in 39 overs. Mavindra Dindyal struck 78 not out while Inderjeet Nanan made 17; extras contributed 43. Shafeek Khan claimed 4-17 and Chanderpaul Ramraj 3-34. East Coast Demerara were bowled out for 110 in 34 overs in reply. Ramraj 13, Rudranauth Kissoon and Joshua Chandrika with 11 each were the only other batsmen to reach double figures while extras assisted with 39. Inderjeet Nanan grabbed 4-7 and Darius Andrews 2-32. West Demerara beat East Coast Demerara by six wickets at the same venue. East Coast Demerara took first strike and was sent packing for 82 with Chanderpaul Ramaraj scoring 26. Vishaul Persaud captured 2-9 and Aron Mohabir 2-13. West Demerara replied with 83-4 including 47 extras. In the third round, West Demerara overcame East Bank Demerara by 47 runs. West Demerara scored 180 all out in 34.3 overs. Mark Mohabir made 38, Nicholas Rajpat 25 and Alex Ali 20; Kishan Singh snared 4-19 and Varun Mangal 2-17. East Bank Demerara responded with 133-6 in 35 overs. Rahul Singh stroked 53 and Ronaldo Phillips 26.
