When travelling abroad, certain destinations allow your food dollar to stretch further than you might imagine. In fact, the World Bank has determined that more than a billion people worldwide live on a food budget of just $1.25 per day. With that in mind, the World Bank asked its Twitter followers for their input on what $1 a day can buy . We've gathered some of the most delicious responses.

This Kenyan speciality blends African cuisine, with Indian chapati and beans (known as madondo). According to the Nairobi News, this dish is a "favourite for most Nairobians on the go," and "is available [at] almost all eateries and is relatively affordable."
