I met a Businessman friend of mine today and chatted about Guyana.

He told me that doing business in Guyana has not changed. The boys in charge still want their "fees" upfront and doing business in Guyana carry the same intolerable level of bureaucracy.

Crime is of a very serious concern, it is so bad that some businesses are closing early in the evening due to the increased crime wave.

He noticed an increase in the Mixed population which might be a good things for a racially divided Guyana.

Investment levels have dropped, many businesses are taking a wait and see approach with regards to investing in the near future.

He fears that Sugar Industry closings will have a severe negative impact on the economy. There are a lot of very nervous people.

He is of the opinion that Granger might attempt to rig with just enough votes to cross him over the line. The PPP seems unprepared to handle any rigging and ABC countries will show a blind eye if rigging occurs.

Jagdeo is popular but the business community is hoping that the PPP fields a new leader at the upcoming 2020 election.

He travels and invests heavily in Guyana but is not as upbeat now compared to when the PPP was in office.

We joked about the some posters at GNI shooting breeze, some even passing wind.

Ha..ha..what kind of leader....maybe  for the few square foot  in which you reside.

Individuals with poor insights can't be leaders, especially the ones who plagiarized other people views.I have noticed you fit.

Look how the jackasses from the slop can crew screw up this discussion.  An eyewitness giving valuable feedback on the economic / political climate in Guyana and all djangy, cain, lilmohan and other members of the pnc can do is trade personal insults.  People, contain yourselves and speak to the dire conditions in Guyana and what your party is doing to alleviate the suffering of the people,.

looks like both sides trading insults...no wonder things don't work in Guyana...people too busy trying to one up each other instead of focusing on ways to grow Guyana

Personally, just from the small sample size I see on here...I think it's pretty hopeless unless you have someone who can overcome all the nonsense

Yugi, I see a 19% drop in the last 24 hours.

Mits, I took time off GNI to cash in on the highs. Got back in again on the lows and it is back up 19 percent this morning.

Play it right and it pays off. It is not for the faint hearted.

You are right. I am sticking with Real Estate. If one can afford to hold, it becomes like a milking cow. The stock market is too volatile for me.

This is my gripe with Yuji. When he speaks, he pulls out a story from a rabbit's ass to aim every failure on the PNC/AFC. I don't know how people can feed their brains with this nonsense. Guyanese are doing business in Guyanese style. Bribery is #1. Guyanese have no patience. They have bribery money on hand to pay off police on their way to conduct business. They knowingly do this religiously, and the story goes on and on.

You saying crime and bribery didn't just start since the PPP lost?  Banna these chaps come up with sheer shit day after day no wonder threads end up with fights.

I do agree the crime issue should be down if the government really want outsiders to invest.

Cain, is your response directed to me or Yuji? I was refuting Yuji's comments. If it's to me, I am not taking sides. Crime has been a way of life through every leadership, whereas bribery is happening daily.

Crime and bribery started long before the PPP lost government. It fact. It became a serious issue after independence with the kick down the door bandits, bribing to get a job under the pnc govt, bribing to buy foodstuff during the economic chaos, bribing the square pegs in round holes when trying to get something done by the government, etc. Heck, even before independence, lots of crime were committed against people of all ethnic backgrounds because of race riots, etc.  where anyone was seldom convicted for them. It continued under the PPP when drugs entered the situation on a large scale. The genie was out of the bottle, no one knows how to put it back in so it continues to this day.

I was being facetious because some people seem to think crime started recently. I agreed with your post.

Yugi, people say you are the Chief Egotistical Officer.

Of Canada's Marijuana Project?

The Banks are getting into the foray and warming up to the Marijuana Sector amid a spree of fund raising deals. Shoppers Drug Mart recently signed a deal with one of the local growers. Guyana could be a viable supplier to the Canadian market.

The government needs to legalize the growing of marijuana. An alternative to sugar????
