James Anderson reached his landmark 500th Test wicket against West Indies this weekend. Of the bowlers who have achieved the feat, who got there the quickest? asked Savo Ceprnich from South Africa
James Anderson reached 500 wickets in his 129th Test, the same number as Courtney Walsh. Muttiah Muralitharan needed only 87, then come Anil Kumble (105), Shane Warne (108), and Glenn McGrath (110). Anderson bowled in 242 innings, more than anyone else: Murali needed 144, Kumble 186, Warne 201, McGrath 214 and Walsh 236. Only McGrath, though, got there quicker than Anderson in terms of balls bowled: by the end of the match in which they took their 500th wicket, McGrath had sent down 25,617 deliveries, Anderson 28,259, Walsh 29,011, Murali 29,522, Warne 30,222 and Kumble 32,961. The quickest in terms of time was Murali, in around 11Â― years, then McGrath (51 days longer), Warne (just over 12 years), Anderson (14 years four months), Kumble (15Â― years) and Walsh (16Â―). Murali was a month short of his 32nd birthday when he got to 500: Warne was 34Â―, Anderson 35 years and 40 days, Kumble 35 and 145, and McGrath 35 and 162, while Walsh was 38.

How many completed Tests have there been like the Lord's one with no innings total over 200? asked Michael Richards from England
The match between England and West Indies at Lord's was only the 32nd completed Test to contain no innings of over 200. Twelve of those were before the First World War, and there have been only three others this century - England v Australia at Trent Bridge in 2001, New Zealand v India int Hamilton in 2002-03, and South Africa v Pakistan in Cape Town in 2006-07. The lowest match aggregate of all came in Melbourne in 1931-32, when Australia (153) beat South Africa (36 and 45) by an innings and 72 runs in a match that contained only 234 runs in all.

I believe that Virat Kohli was the fastest to 30 centuries in ODIs. Is anyone close? asked Mukhtar Sharma from India
Virat Kohli raced to 30 centuries in only 194 one-day internationals (186 innings), much quicker than the other two players to reach this landmark - Sachin Tendulkar needed 274 matches (267 innings) and Ricky Ponting 359 (340). The only current player who is remotely close to Kohli's rate is Hashim Amla, who now has 25 centuries in 156 ODIs - he was 16 matches quicker than Kohli (170) to the landmark of 25.

Who has held the Wisden Trophy for longer, England or West Indies? asked Jeremy Campbell from England
The trophy was presented in 1963, to mark the 100th edition of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, for Test series between England and West Indies. Since then, the trophy (which rarely leaves Lord's) has been held by West Indies for around 32 years, and by England for 22 (and counting). West Indies' former dominance is emphasised by the fact that they held the trophy continuously from 1973 to 2000. Helped by that streak, the trophy has changed hands only five times: after West Indies won the inaugural series in 1963, Colin Cowdrey claimed it for England in the Caribbean in 1967-68. West Indies won it back in 1973, then England held it for nearly nine years before Chris Gayle's team wrested control early in 2009. But a couple of months later England reclaimed the Wisden Trophy, which they have held ever since.

Who has scored the most Test runs without ever bowling? And who holds this record in ODIs asked Shriram Moharil from the United States
The former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming tops this list: he scored 7172 runs, in 111 Tests, without ever bowling. There are several players with more runs than Fleming who never took a Test wicket - Kumar Sangakkara, Brian Lara, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Matthew Hayden, Alec Stewart, Hashim Amla, Justin Langer, Colin Cowdrey, Gordon Greenidge, Mohammad Yousuf and David Boon - but they all had the occasional unsuccessful trundle. Just behind Fleming comes England's Andrew Strauss, who scored 7037 runs in exactly 100 Tests but never bowled.

Sangakkara tops the list in one-day internationals: he's second behind Sachin Tendulkar on the overall list, with 14,234 runs in 404 matches, but never once bowled. Next comes Adam Gilchrist, with 9619 runs but no wickets in 287 ODIs. Gilchrist bowled one ball in T20 cricket, and took a wicket - in his last IPL match, for Kings XI Punjab against Mumbai Indians in Dharamsala in May 2013, but this otherwise perfect record was spoiled by two wicketless overs in a List A match early in his career, for Young Australia against Leicestershire in August 1995.
