Now which is which?

Jalil grunts ignorance, and engages in vulgarity and has an obsession with Kwame.  I don't know why given that Kwame is a clown with no power, and no influence and is held in contempt by most Guyanese.  So why is he so important that in virtually every post from Jalil his name comes up.  If Kwame disappeared tomorrow nothing will change.

The African and African identified mixed vote will support APNU.  They will do so despite their disappointment with the PNC for not representing their interests, and their belief (which might change, depending on how Granger handles the PPP during this prorogation period) that Granger is weak.  They feel harassed by an Indian elite (not just the PPP) and see APNU as their only vehicle to fight back.  This is why APNU shocked every one, including myself in their performance in 2011.  Virtually all of the increased voter turn out went to them.

Its not that they went back to the PNC. Its that Afro Guyanese feel increasingly marginalized. Now people can jump up and down and pretend as if this isn't the case.  They can bring their black "friend" who might tell them that all is well in Guyana.  But a look at who makes the decisions in Guyana will indicate that Guyana is as dominated by Indians males as the USA is by white males.  You will note that Indian males account for only 20% of Guyana's population.  David Hinds and others write much about this.  Those who damn them as racists can feel free to continue to push their head in the sand.  Any society where a large % of the population feels excluded is a society headed to disaster.

The AFC has tried to define itself within Guyana's ethnically defined political space.  In 2006 they gained votes (largely from the black and mixed middle class, and maybe some urban Indian votes).  They lost most of these votes in 2011 as blacks flocked back to APNU which they saw as having a better chance at beating the PPP than did the AFC.

Nagamootoo defected from the PPP and that became a game changer for the AFC.  Thanks to him the AFC made major inroads into Regions 5 and 6 where they snatched significant votes from the PPP.  This empowered Nagamootoo and the people who he brought with him.  Trotman decided to play a lower profile, and Nigel Hughes has his own law practice to run, so from the point of view of outsiders the AFC is now a new party.

It is obvious to all that the focus of the AFC is about making inroads into the PPP vote.  They can only do so if they have an Indian face.  So Nagamotoo and Ramjattan hide at this black protest last Friday, and send their black messengers to ensure that the AFC has a presence.  David Hinds made note of this, and I am sure that he isn't the only one.

The PPP is an arrogant and corrupt party which has stayed in power too long.  It has adopted many of the Burnhamite tactics and holds on for dear life to the same Burnham constitution, which not only did they criticize, but they know full well is ILLEGAL, given that it is only in place because of a BLATANTLY rigged referendum.  In addition the PPP has become a party of the Indian elite, having lost any pretense of caring about the Indian grass roots.  The party of Cheddi Jagan exists no more.

I will leave others to further describe the PPP, as I am sure that they know more than I do.  Suffice to say that it has lost much of the support that it once had from the traditional Jaganite faction, and it probably never gained the support of the young emerging middle class Indians.

So the PPP is stuck.  It never broke into the African/mixed population.  Because of disinterest and the difficult logistics of inerior transportation voter turnout in the interior is low.  So even though the PPP might have 60% of the Amerindian vote that can only carry it so far.

As the Indian population shrinks through migration, defects to the AFC, or simply doesn't vote, that leaves the PPP in a state of panic.  They fear that the AFC might siphon off votes, given that Nagamootoo was held in high regard by many PPP supporters.

They also fear that a sense of heightened panic within the African/African identified mixed population means that the APNU will increasingly be able to not only hold on to their base, but also to get them registered and out to vote if they smell the prospects of a PPP defeat.

I have been speaking to many younger Afro Guyanese professionals, people who came of age after 1992.  They resent comments made by people like me which criticizes Burnham.  They look at the era before 1973 (before they were born) with a sense of mythic awe. Not only were blacks not marginalized, they think, but also the cost of living (In GY$) seemed low.  So they think that if they can get rid of the PPP those days will return.

So Guyana is entering a new era.  With a declining Indian population, a stable black population and an increasing mixed population.  With a population which is becoming less rural, less agricultural and more urban in scope things will change.  Maybe Guyana will become more like Trinidad, with its powerful independent civic society, and a 20% swing vote.

Kwame as usual, and yet you wish to be seen seriously.  Indeed you are so irrational.

1.  Kwame is a PPP.  I hate the PPP even MORE than you do.  10 years ago you were a fervent PPP supporter then had some falling out with them.  I NEVER liked them.

2.  Kwame hates black people and indeed is used by the PPP to attack them.  We all remember him knocking down black people with his car, and engaging in other violence against blacks.

What ever you call me, hating blacks can't be one of the names that you call me.

Even if there is one iota of truth in all of this rant, it is lost in  your love poem to Kwame.

Some equivocation here CaribJ......You hate the PPP and assert that Kwame is one of them; ipso facto, I hate Kwame. You immediately asserted "....hating blacks can't be one of the names that you call me." I take it then that you do not hate Kwame and by extension you do not hate the PPP.

However Jalil expresses comments on Kwame, ahe is stating a factthat he was a House of Israel member under the PNC and while the civic coalition involving Rodney's WPA were targets a whole bunch of PPP supporters were targeted also.

Anyhow the #2 party polemic I started becomes meaningless when you consider that fudamental nature of the three parties - the two major ones are largely ethnic-based and the the third one incubated from dissatisfaction from those two.

You can chat with Jalil about his obsession with Kwame.  To most Kwame is a soup drinker and of limited use.  If Kwame disappeared to tomorrow really what would change?  So why EVERY post from Jalil does that come up?

Nagamootoo wants the Indian vote.  He will NOT get it, so he thinks, by speaking in front of this protest.  Hughes speaks instead.

Clearly the AFC cannot distance itself from the protest because Hughes spoke.  So why didn't Nagamootoo (who as the presidential candidate will be the person who people will be asked to vote for), not speak?

After all G/town has the largest pool of votes in Guyana, and being the capital, events occurring there are reported throughout the nation, so it presented an excellent opportunity for Nagamootoo to expand his base beyond those who know him from the PPP.

But he didn't, and that is all about the racial paranoia of Guyana where he must tread carefully to retain the Indian vote he received in 2011, and to get more in 2015/16.  He obviously wasn't bothered by the fact that he missed an opportunity for those who still don't trust him due to the fact that, until not that long ago, he was a PPP man.

Nagamootoo is no Roopnarine, who longer ago transcended the fact that he is Indo Guyanese, and now probably enjoys more support among Afro Guyanese, than he does among Indo Guyanese.  Indeed some even ventured to say that it was he, and not Trotman, who played a strong role in galvanizing support for APNU in 2011.

So how can the AFC claim to be multi racial when it missed an opportunity to introduce its presidential candidate because of its fears about how Indo Guyanese might react to that.

TWO parties aim for he Indian vote.  The PPP and the AFC.  They will take what ever support that they can get from the black voters, but it is APNU who will focus most on the black vote, because that is the only vote that it gets.

So the AFC can live off of its pre Nagamootoo heritage of being a "non racial" party, but the events of the last few days have provided proof that, while it might mouth that, it doesn't act that in its plans for the next election.

Jalil I don't know if Kwame needed the Vaseline when he had sex with you, or whether he applied it on you when you all had sex.  But what is apparent is that he dumped you, and you are very angry with him.  Look at all the PNC hooligans who are with the PPP now.  McLean, Joe Hamilton, and others who are far more dangerous than some little homosexual who hates himself and other Afro Guyanese.  Yet your focus.

I have yet to see an indepth analysis from you.

The AFC obtained the disaffected black vote in 2006. It lost most of it when they gave APNU another chance. It gained an Indian disaffected vote with the arrival of Nagamootoo, because of the high regard that Nagamootoo was held by rural Indians.

To most black people Nagamootoo is just another PPP person who has now left.  Beyond that he means nothing to them, and they have no specific opinion of him, beyond the hope that he continues to split the Indian vote.

So why you think that the AFC has multi ethnic appeal is interesting.  If a party only gets votes when people are angry with other parties then it doesn't have a base of its own.  It means that if those same voters decided to flock back then the AFC loses them.

The AFC will only succeed when people vote for them because they ARE the AFC, and not because they aren't the PPP or the PNC.

In 2006 some of the black (middle class) left because they didn't like Corbin.  Most went back to Granger, and indeed Granger's problem is with the grass roots segment of the PNC.

In 2011 Nagamootoo brought over with him a significant following in East and West Berbice.  He lacked any appeal in Demerara and Esseuibo where disaffected PPP supporters decided to stay home. Do they still support him, to the point where they give him leeway to speak at a black protest?  Even Nagamootoo isn't sure.

So apparently, other than write love poems to Kwame, engage in race based vulgarity, and write rhetorical nonsense you don't bring anything to the conversation.

caribny, in addition to the other political no no's that i hve pointed out elsewhere, you do realize that Granger's people running this APNUfest introduced him as the next President of Guyana

do u really think that it makes political (or common) sense for the putative AFC presidential candidate (Moses) to share THAT stage?

can you imagine what the PPP would do with this stuff on the campaign trail (yes, in Regions 5 and 6), with this 'confirmation' of AFC subsumed into APNU. The optics alone is money in the PPP bank!

what are you, a political moron!

look banna, i am on record supporting a coalition of the AFC and APNU contesting the next elections for a narrow purpose under a different banner, not APNU, because i am also aware that the AFC must NOT be absorbed into APNU if it is to survive as an independent political force and serve, for now, as kingmaker and game changer . . . punching above its weight

it would seem to sane people that Nigel Hughes, a Georgetown man, speaking for the AFC strikes the proper balance of support and distance under the circumstances

If the AFC feared that APNU would have made this into an APNU fest then they should have organized their own protests at what ever location they proved.  The chairman of the AFC was there and he spoke, and the other black AFC leaders were present, so the optics are that the APNU arranged this event and got their baby brother to come speak to celebrate with them.

You still aren't making your case.

Now you are a die hard supporters as indeed I was when they started in 2006.  The problem with the AFC is that they behave like those Occupy Wall Street kids, except that they are not kids so ought to know better.

1. Race politics gives the PPP and APNU a base.  The AFC attracted disaffected black voters in 2006, and then disaffected Indians voters in 2011, losing a large part of the black support. it is obvious to me that the AFC has yet to find its footing.

2. I don't know why you are saying that Nagamootoo didn't speak because of what the PPP will do to terrify the Indian vote which he seeks. I already said that.  The fact remains that the main focus of the AFC is to get PPP (Indian) votes and so they are doing their best to appear Indian friendly to attract that support.  Do you think that this will be a strategy to attract cross ethnic support?

At the end of the day Granger made huge mileage off of this, but I don't see that the AFC did.  They did however provide footage for the PPP to play with Nigel, a major AFC leader, speaking.  So it becomes harder to say that this was just an APNU event. Political parties don't normally allow people from other parties to speak on their platform.

I ask again. When will the AFC organize their own protests, or do they plan to leave that to APNU, and concede what ever mileage that those protests (if they remain peaceful) get?

If after an entire week the AFC wasn't able to organize their own protest then they are weaker than I thought.

If APNU, with all its well known disorganization, can pull off a protest, and have a senior AFC official speak at it then why not the AFC?

So APNU has now defined the resistance to the prorogation in a manner which suits its agenda, and with footage showing active AFC participation (Hughes speaking).

What did the AFC get out of it?  In the eyes of most they remain a party for the disaffected, and that is if the disaffected even plan to vote.  Now you may sincerely believe otherwise but you have yet to prove otherwise.

Take care that the AFC doesn't become another WPA, meaning well but lacking the ability to become a large party.

If you need to believe in what you are saying feel free.  I remember similar comments in 2011 when I said that the AFC was spending too much time in regions 5 and 6 and not enough in regions 3, 4 and 10.

Well the results are public and guess what, those who screamed that the AFC would get more votes than APNU were shocked when the votes were counted and all they got was 10%.

The AFC needs at this time to show capacity and by ceding the battle against prorogation isn't the way to do it.   Suppose Ramotar suddenly decides to hold elections, it will be APNU which gets the credit.

Now which is which?

One of my early interactions with the AFC, my feedback was to have more diverse events.  My view was too many Indian items and music and the Afros were not fairly represented.  They acknowledged but each event was more of the same.

baseman, forgive me if i view with much skepticism y'all race bandits (you, yugee, ramakant_p, cobra, rev, conscience dem) convenient hug up of Caribny's "viewpoint" that the AFC lacks an 'adequate diversity thrust'
