PPP delegation visits Strathavon farmers whose farms were destroyed by the APNU+AFC
A People’s Progressive Party delegation led by MP Neil Kumar visited the community of Strathavon on Thursday. During the visit the team met with a number of residents who expressed their disapproval of actions taken by Region Four Vice Chairman, Earl Lambert against cash crop farmer, Hamekarran Narine.
Last Friday Lambert directed and instructed a group of men armed with cutlasses whom he brought, to chop to the ground over two thousand (2,000) bearing bora plants cultivated by Narine.
This was done at the behest of Moti Lall, called ‘Nehru’, a Canadian-based Guyanese Alliance for Change (AFC) activist who was on hand today during the visit and engaged in a verbal altercation with angry villagers.
The residents pointed to many other persons who cultivated on the said dam but were not touched by the Regional Officials. They said that Moti Lall has a personal grievance with Narine and as such he used his political influence to settle the score.
Narine has since moved to the courts where he filed a lawsuit against Lambert claiming millions of dollars in damages. He is being represented by PPP/C MP Anil Nandlall.
